“SWL Season XVII - Southside Stone Smashers Conference League - Round 2
A brutal game indeed. From the outset, it was clear that these underhanded dwarves meant business. With a very suspicious coin toss to begin the game, and one dwarf sneaking a set of knuckledusters onto the pitch, this game went from bad to worse very quickly.
The first drive saw a poor kick give a touchback awarded to the dwarves, and from there on, the blood began to flow. Throat Slasha was killed on a regular block in turn 2, and by turn 4, there were only 7 amazons left on the pitch (Bone Krasha had her Jaw broken on a 1d block), which ruined what looked like an excellent chance for us to get at the ball carrier. Unfortunately, our attempt left far too many players in tackle zones, and with armour 7, that means a whole lot of pain. From then on, there was little challenge for the dwarves, who continued to clear the pitch. By the end of the drive, there were 5 players in the dead and injured box, and 3 knocked out. Meanwhile, we were yet to do better than a stun.
The second half went little better. With just eight players on the pitch, we knew that it had to be a quick touchdown, or nothing at all. Things were looking up when the best the dwarves could do was a 1d blitz on the ball carrier. Unfortunately, Prainn made good use of his skills, not only rolling a POW, but also collecting the ball. Double skulls in the following turn meant that Back Breaka was unable to offer any form of assistance, and despite being only turn 3, it was all but game over. A last-ditch attempt at the ball resulted in Elf Bruisa inflicting the only casualty the dwarves received, sending Prainn off the field badly hurt.
It was not enough to even slow the dwarves down, and with dwindling numbers, there was nothing we could do to stop Hepti from trundling up the field in his own time, eventually bringing the game to 0-2 on the scoreboard.
3 pts - #2 Svior
Inflicting 3 casualties for the game, from a mere 7 blocks, this is one dwarf to be careful of. Thanks to his efforts, both Bone Krasha and Elbow Kikka will be missing for our next match.
2 pts - #15 Prainn
Thanks to Prainn, we were unable to get on the scoreboard. The 1d POW on Hed Splitta was exactly what the dwarves needed. Although he was injured shortly after, Prainn gave his all, getting the ball back up to his team-mates who had no trouble securing the ball once it got to them.
1 pt - #6 Bavorr
Inflicting the first casualty of the match, a kill no less, Bavorr also went on to score the first touchdown for Steelfist. Of course, he deserves little credit for the touchdown, as Vedgrasill did all the work getting the ball to him. ”
