“Fresh off of two wins, the Icy Black Hand of Death was hoping for third win to finish off the season, but knew the ELFLAND HAWKS weren't going to go quietly into the night!
The norse sweated and squinted in the bright sun and as the kick-off sailed towards them, the Elves had plenty of time to perfectly reorganize their defense. Mord roared and trampled down a hapless elf bringing him his first casuality! Geirmund Glacier responded in kind, bring his first also! Prez picked up the ball, but the elves found a way in and knocked it loose. Frosty Throst got too close to all the scantly clad elven ladies in the crowd and dove in for a little fun. The elves managed to get the ball and glide in for the first TD.
They kicked it back to the norse, but then followed up with a lightning blitz! Immediately the Icy Boys found themselves playing defense again, as the elves easily caught their own kick. The summoned the strength of Odin and drove in, getting the ball back and to Jorunn Sleet. Sleet pounded down the field, crippling an elf who tried to bring him down. Sleet tied it up, 1-1 and the gods of war were pleased.
The norse would kick off to the elves to start the second half and followed up with a blitz of their own! They tried to box in the elves, but amazingly, one managed to break free and clear the blitzer despite multiple swings. The elves were up 2-1.
The norse had a limited amount of time to try and tie this match up! Sleet caught the kick and started plowing down for another score. The pesky Breon Artulbar, though, got on Sleet and wouldn't shake off, despite multiple attempts by multiple vikings. Desperate to break free, Sleet finally caught Breon right in the nose, bringing him down and giving him the room he needed. The elves tried hard, but the Black Hand was able to cover Sleet as he barely beat the buzzer to tie up the final game of the season 2-2!
Great game, Domster! He played those elves well and, even when outnumbered, still made the plays! A tie against these guys is a warrior's honor!
Thus ends the Icy Black Hand of Death's first season in the NWL. The fans have started coming around to the norse, and they boys finally looted enough towns to afford some new luck charms. Looking back, though, the boys had a pretty lucky season. Not one player had to retire all season! May Odin's eye keep watchful guard over IBHoD in season two!”
