“SWEETHEARTS COACH GETS RENEWED VOTE OF CONFIDENCE AFTER BRAVE 2-0 DEFEAT TO AFL MUMMYS
As the title says, the Sawankhalok Sweethearts went down 2-0 to the AFL Mummys in tonight's featured game. Despite the score, coach Prasomchai made some very positive comments in the post-match interview:
"Prior to the AFL I led my girls to an incredible 8-3-1 record in pre-season friendlies. All was looking good for the season, until the first game kicked off! I made some serious tactical errors and my poor girls were ladyhandled around the field.
After that game we were looking at facing the Mummys under-strength. This was not a good place to be! I debated whether to try for a win, a tie or just avoid injuries. In the end I opted for all 3 strategies during the match.
What a great performance my girls put in! Despite being seriously outnumbered, and losing an inevitable touchdown after kicking off in the first, my girls came back fighting and almost found a tie with 6 players! Yes, star Paris just had to dodge a tackle to launch a ball towards the endzone...and even if she misthrew, there was no-one close to receiver Evangeline to prevent her from making the score...but Paris was tackled...in pre-season she made that play 9 times out of 10!
After that turnover another score was inevitable, so my girls smartly decided to avoid blocks and stay alive. In the end, we suffered one niggling injury, but came out just fine given the circumstances.
What is most encouraging is that we've got the tactics just right. My confidence is restored! Ditto the girls. And with 11 players for the next match, and not facing a rough and tumble team, we're ready to turn this season around!"
Indeed, the game was a tactical one, with both coaches making the perfect moves in every situation. The AFL Mummys put in a very professional performance, kindly refraining from mashing the girls too much as time drew to a close, and a second score became a certainty. This team is a serious threat to the division and beyond! You heard it here first folks.
:)
Back to the Sweethearts, reports indicate that the board was 'very encouraged' by the performance and, with the always-impressive gate receipts, rumors have it that deceased star Kelly has been 'restored' in a top-secret and exclusive 'research facility' - and will return for the next game!
In sum, the Sweethearts are back! Expect a stiff test for their opponents next week...”
