With the Echoes missing superstar Touchstone and 2 other supporting players, this was always going to be a hard game for the elves. The weather was shocking (Melbourne?), raining all game.
Sneaky Endar-Sen brought his knuckledusters along, and put them to full use by badly hurting superstar Balldrinker II first turn. However Niclin couldn't secure the ball and the Fossils had it on the deck and covered just 1 short of the endzone. Enter Baj and his 4 dodges plus pickup in tacklezones, then throw a completion allowing Fral and Endar-Sen to combine for the first touchdown. Was all elf class and the play of the game.
The kick to the Fossils was gathered but only briefly held as Baj danced through 5 tacklezones to assist Rzak Xhen who dodged and blitzed the ball free, which then bounced into the waiting arms of Baj. Coach ArtaXerxes was beginning to worry that the Echoes winning “drought” might be broken this game if they kept this nonsense up. The Echoes however aided their own demise, starting with Endar-Sen failing a leap, leaving Baj exposed to a blitz and crowdpush (KO'd). While the Fossils made hard work of picking up the ball in the rain, eventually they retrieved it and scored just before half time.
The second half was much fumbling by the Fossils, Baj doing himself a serious injury (gouged eye of all things) when dodging, Fral being terminally impaled on Erool's III fist, Razk Xhen played the star blitzer roll until Parbag smashed his hip, and the Fossils fumbled some more. But, despite the very dodgy moves coach Rabid was effecting, the Fossils grunt power eventually prevailed.
