Final of Orcland Wooden Shield 11/06
-----------------------------------------------------
It was time for the prestigious final of the Orcland Wooden Shield, and the Big 'Urt was up against the Dead Alive! Necros...a team that had impressively won the Reikland Rookie Cup earlier during the season.

When goblins are involved cheating is expected and the Big 'Urt had in direct violation of the tournament rules smuggled in a star player amongst their ranks. (bampf was honorable enough to allow it since I had bought it by mistake.) Although blending in with the other goblins when walking onto the pitch the sound of his trusty ripper soon revealed Nobbla Blackwart to the cheering crowd.

Bampf sent his two warewolves on a daring raid to stop the chainsaw wielding threat, but there is a reason that Nobbla is labeled a star player and despite claws tearing into his flesh he kept himself on the pitch and disposed of one of the furry beasts with some slashes of the ripper. With blood splashed in his eyes Nobbla didn't see the zombie Scotty charging him from the back. When he felt the cold hands on him he swiftly started cutting limbs from his opponent, but it was too late. He was dragged down and trampled under the pile of fleshy bits he cut his opponent into. Amazingly the Dead Alive! pitch crew managed to stitch the zombie together to play in the 2nd half.

Big 'Urt played well, and despite facing fast opponents Mot da Katapult Kidd managed to dodge himself through the ranks of wailing corpses and run in a TD. The opponent nearly equalled the match on a fast blitz, but a trusty goblin dive tackler stopped the remaining warewolf from running over the end zone line in time.

In the 2nd half Dead Alive! recieved the kickoff and for a moment the Big 'Urt lost their focus. The match was soon tied up, but now they recieved again and had a fairly good chance of being able to win the match. But suddenly the luck that had helped the ogre team throughout the tournament turned on them. The ogres got confuzed about the tactics and made some awful mistakes, and the goblins were too cowardous to advance with the ball unsupported. This series of events lead to the Dead Alive! managing to steal the ball, and a chocked ogre team watched them run in the winning TD with just a minute left of the game.

Big 'Urt put their chances on a gob throw, but the allready confuzed and stressed ogres fumbled the throw. The Dead Alive! crew had beaten them and won the Wooden Shield.

Thanks for the match, bampf. I can't really find any excuses for the loss except that I was fairly beaten. The luck was pretty even if not in my favor, despite some rough rolls in the end, and you allowed me to have a star player. You are definately both a skilled coach and a worthy winner. Congratulations!

Orca Cola Cup Series Orcland Wooden Shield Final

Well this game started out with some controversy as an illegal weapon somehow appeared on the field. Supposedly a mindful ref suspected cheating from the goblins and asked a representative from Dead Alive about what they would like done. Well, the only response the ref got was some gurgling noises and something about "Brains."

So the weirded out ref simply let things slide and decided his best course of action was to just stay the hell out of the way.

As the game started though some Dead Alive members with functional sensory apparatus quickly noticed the roar of the chainsaw and attempted a pre-emptive strike. Nobbla indeed felt the swift cut of the wolf claw, and his own chainsaw falling on him, but this seemed to only fuel his mad frenzy as he sawed the wolf into the injured bin in response. Immediately thereafter Scotty Doohan attempted his patented "Beam Me Up!" Block wherein he simply leaps on his foe and hopes for the best. Nobla s wirling blade chopped both zombie and gobbo to ribbons and the resultant blood spray reached fans high in the rickety Orcland bleachers!

The oil slick of organs and blood only added to the goblin s legendary slipperiness and Big Urt was able to squeak through for a nice break-away and a first half score.

The second half went the way of the undead though. Mindless zombies were flung at the ogres time and time again, until the great brutes either broke them or got bored of their new playthings. Left to fend for themselves without their ogre companions, the gobbos failed to control the ball and Joey Ram-Moan was able to scoop and score for the championship!

Great and fun game against an excellent opponent! Stay tuned for the rematch when Pirog s Gothenburg Gitz look to smash some revenge out of my operatic Human team Die Walkure, in the Middenheim Challenge final.
