Game 46 – SWL 17, Round 6

Coming up against the Apocalyptic SWL Predators for the second season in a row (2-2 draw last time), coach ArtaXerxes decided to bring in the heavy artillery, hiring Silibili. Unknown to everyone at this game, Silibili had double booked himself at this time with executive box seating at a royal theater performance of “The Ashes Cricket”. He managed to arrange for an ex-Volvo crash dummy to wear his Bloodbowl kit and be placed on the Line of Scrimmage. Everyone thought he was just soaking up the atmosphere of the arena until Ursus Spelaeus hit him with the first block of the day. The crash dummy collapsed in a heap (BH), and was carried off by the bemused Fossils support staff. Coach ArtaXerxes started storming around his coach's box, demanding someone explain how 70k can just (safely) crumple like that!

Oh, and there was a game that followed this drama, though most people in the crowd were debating conspiracy theories involving Volvo crash dummies and Saurii (and how to tell the difference).

Hyaena brunnea took advantage of the free foul arranged with the Ref before the game, and big Krox Drysd was out KO'd. Not to be outdone, Rigdush II straight away returned the favour Koing Troll Ailuropoda melanoleuca. Erool III was also having a good day out, removing Ursus Maritimus with broken ribs. The Predators cage eventually opened, allowing Ballripper to score the first touchdown against the run of play.

The Predators then put together a solid cage and run game to allow Panthera Tigris Altaica to score just on half time. (although Erool III took a turn 8 free hit opportunity to give Ursus Arctos Horribilis a Gouged Eye.

The second half started with the Fossils receiving a touch-back, and the ball was give to the Lizard running hot – Erool III. The Fossils ran (slowly) a loose cage up the southern flank, and eventually overcame some tough harassment from Canis Lupus and his blitzer mates to score.

The Predators the tried to return the ball, but the cage was under-orced, and was popped open allowing a skink retrieval and Balldrinker II to use his newly acquired diving catch skill. Eventually the touchdown was scored and the Fossils were home 3-1.
