“Third Match – Furies vs. Inferiority, away. 3-1 (W)
After a dismal performance, Aramil was stripped of the Captaincy, which was bestowed upon Roaril, the furies new blitzer. Under this new leadership, the Furies took the pitch against the Wood Elf side Inferiority. The Wood Elves won the toss and elected to receive, so the Furies began the match on defense. Poor ball handling by Inferiority allowed the Furies to seize the initiative, storming the opponent’s half and forcing them into making a desperate play. Furies lineman Vaygil intercepted a pass and ran it in for the TD. On the Wood Elves second attempt at an offensive drive, they were more cohesive: a block by lineman Malakai landing the Furies’ new Captain in the Badly Hurt box, and the Wood Elves scored a seemingly effortless TD to tie it. Aramil took it upon himself to rally the troops, completing a pass to lineman Endril on the Furies’ following drive for the TD. Inferiority failed to score in the dwindling minutes of the first half, leaving the game 2-1 Furies headed into the second.
The beginning of the second half was marred by poor handling by both sides – the Furies managed to bring the ball into the opposition half but failed to produce. While possession was contested, Aramil claimed vengeance for Roaril, blasting Wood Elf lineman Fordor into the Badly Hurt box. About halfway through the second half, Aramil had the ball and a clear run to the end zone, but tripped up going for it and fell just short of the line. Furies lineman Laziel managed to recover position and rush in for the TD, leaving the score 3-1. Inferiority failed to muster a counter-attack in the closing stages of the match – superior defense from the Furies, coupled with a devastating blow from Vaygil that left Wood Elf lineman Quak in the Badly Hurt box, left Inferiority with no chance of a consolation score. The Furies celebrated their second away victory, while concerns brew over who will Captain the squad in their next match. ”
