The boys did really well, slowly but surely bashing the poor Elves into submission(which never happened).
The first half was very scrappy, with neither team seeming to be able to do anything with the ball, the only bright spot for Rushden was two RIP's.
Starting the second half, Rushden had a wake up call to the Elf bowl. With the speedy, Elves getting the score in a classic two turn T.D. This seemed to give Rushden a kick up the bum, as starting off from the T.D they made there way up the field, trying to keep as tight as possible, eventually scoring the T.D.
Things then went my way in O.T, getting a Blitz, and managing to stall out several goes before scoring.
A very tight, and good game.
Well played, to Gres who I have to feel. He had to endure many stall'd turns, and then ended up with -1FF, and little money for the trouble,”
“The Fury's pre-season gets even worse with their second consecutive cup exit. The first half was a scrappy affair with Rushden being dis-possessed four times, the Fury collecting it twice but not being able to secure it. The half was marred by RIPs in consecutive turns for the Fury, the apothecary saving the Fury from total disaster.
In the second the Fury scored a typical 2-turn elfbowl TD to take them into the lead. The Fury then managed again to recover the ball from Rushden and Fear survived 4-5 blocks to run free with the ball. However he was brought down the following turn and Rushden recovered the ball and made quick inroads into the Fury numbers. Rushden then methodically made their way up the pitch bashing as they went to equalise.
Bar a quick interlude the game went into overtime with no KOed Furys bothering to return. Receiving the Fury were confident of repeating their first score but a Blitz result left the Ball in Rushden hands. Acute lack of players and failed dodge rolls left the few fury opportunities to attack the ball carrier in tatters and Rushden stalled to leave the fury no chance to snatch a late equaliser.
A double 1 for the winnings and FF roll capped an excellent pre-season game for the fury and leaves them in an excellent position to start next season with a team of 10 for the first match.”
