#4 Second Master Doe – Smashed Knee (NI)
#7 Ventriloquist – Dead (RIP)
Was too exhuasted to write a match report after the game (getting up for the 10am qualifier with a hangover and little sleep only for it to be cancelled and have to wait until 10pm will do that to you!)

But here it is belatedly...

Went into this match hoping to face a nice squishy team and fully loaded with both Hthark and a wizard.
Didnt smile much when i saw another CD team! Werthor has also hired Htkark so the star got a double pay day without risking his neck ;)

My Kung Pow side had the advantage on paper with more guard a Strength 5 Bull and a wizard...

What followed was a very close and somewhat painful match.

Kung Pow received first aiming to put the hurt and the boot in early.
Formed a fairly secure cage and when a large part of the Empoli team was on one side of the pitch i tried to go for an earlyish score and broke out down the other flank deploying a loose screen round the ball carrier.

Werthor then made his first mitsake, it was a costly one too as it turned out. With one assist on my STR 5 Bull he blitzed it with one of his bulls. Result was skull skull turnover. With his prone bull fairly isolated i felt it my duty to put in the boot.... inflicted a niggle, apoth faul... ouch!
Wimp Lo then ran in the score in turn 4 as i couldnt see a safe way to stall with too many line dwarfs tied up.

Empoli then received and threatened to cage down my right flank, inflicting a -STR SI on my standfirm Dwarf Ventriloquist who was anchoring that flank. I chose to apoth him.

Knowing i only needed to keep Werthor from putting in people in scoring range i put up a double file Defence on the flank to stop a break thro and tried to screen the rest of the field while i hit at his isolated dwarfs. Kept him out fairly comfortably in the end even finding time to work in another gang foul, but no pain this time :(

2nd half i fancied my chances with the Wizard still unused and 1 of Werthors bulls in hospital. However i suffered the worst of the early exchanges and started to get outnumbered.
The Empoli team had a strong front to their cage as they tried to drive forward down 1 flank again but it wasnt a standard cage and the back was open and in range of my other Bull 'Evil Betty'. I First ran in a hobgoblin to tackle zone the ball carrier before making the 3GFI Blitz with the bull. Didnt Trip but didnt roll good block dice and he stayed standing.

Werthor then did exactly what i would of done.. made the ball safe, blocked my Bull then gangfouled it hehe I breathed a sigh of relief as was only a BH. Instead of moving the ball carrier he elected to block my hobgoblin also and Ko'd him.

Now seriously undermanned i knew i wouldnt be able to cover the field to prevent a score very easily. With the crowd around my fouled bull still there I called a fireball down... Unfortunately the AG2 players emerged unscathed, but it KO'd at least 2 Hobgoblins evening the field a bit.

The same was very tight after this and at some stage Ventriloquist got fouled/blocked and killed (cant remember which!) and i left the empoli team with only 1 hobgob on the pitch.

finally with time running out Werthor got the ball to his remaining bull and sprinted off down the other side of the pitch... Moo Niu ran to meet him (thank god for STR5!) and successfully brought him down by the sideline and stood watch over him. Whoa picked herself up from nearby, recovered the ball the next turn and successfully threw to Mae Ling who ran in a T16 score.

GG Werthor, im pretty sure this would of gone to overtime without my wizard... and it nearly did anyway!

hmmm now for skaven.......

#13 Il Molla – Broken Ribs (MNG)
#13 Il Molla – Smashed Knee (NI)
I utterly subscribe the report made by Coach Grit; i've made a silly mistake not seeing the +ST on his Bull and this costed my bull and the first half of the match. The second half started well with two lucky fouls that put out of business one of Grit's cd and a bull, but his wiz an the st5 bull put an end at my hopes of evening the match.
Anyway i liked the match since it had a lot of bashing (maybe too much) and it's result has kept unpredictable till the end.
Grats Grit (eheheh it makes a funny sound ;)) and good luck in the next round
