SWL Season XVIII - Premier League - Round 1

After the debacle last time we faced them, resulting in 3 players missing their next game, We Fink Wer Orks came into this match with all the forces they could muster. Armed with a wizard (who promptly fell asleep, and completely forgot to use his spells), and Zara (who actually stayed on the field all match!) they looked a force to reckon with.

Winning the toss, we chose to receive, a good decision for certain. The dwarves over committed a little, and we were able to take advantage of some fortunate rolls (even if the ref sent our DP off in the first turn). Two dwarves were left in positions from which they could easily be crowd-surfed, and naturally, there was no hesitation. The dwarves responded (of course), by crowd-surfing our ball carrier (that break tackle is nasty). We did, however, manage to maintain a numerical advantage (not sure how), and were able to ensure a touchdown in turn 8.

For the first time against KFC, we went into the second half with 11 players on the field! Taking heart with this, Zara led a blitz down the flank towards the ball, and with some traditional dwarvern ball handling skills, it kinda sat there for a while. Long enough for Bone Krasha to wander through, pick it up, and stroll in for a touchdown (all in a days work for the team's star player .. or so she says).

With a 2-0 scoreline in our favour, the dwarves were getting desperate. They tried valiantly, making humourous attempts at a long-bomb passing play (you should see a dwarf trying to throw the ball that far, it's hilarious!), but after two failed attempts at this play, we finally swarmed the ball carrier, and were able to secure the ball once more, and take it in for a final score of 3-0.

3 pts - #2 Slayer Stephen
Showing off more than a little, Stephan made somewhat excessive use of his multiple block skill, knocking over many a player, and opening gaps. Despite only inflicting one casualty, he made quite a mess all round.

2 pts - #1 Big Bad Bill
A nice combination of +ST, break tackle and stand firm (in addition to the usual slayer skills) made bill a major threat. Whenever he was close by, we were paying attention to try to avoid giving him the opportunity to crowdpush our players. Despite this work, he still managed to surf one of our key players, Loony Tossa, while she had the ball no less.

1 pt - #6 Tony Twinkletoes
Tony receives the "most humourous player" award. His antics trying to send the ball downfield with a long-bomb were the funniest thing we've seen in a while. I'm sure we wouldn't have been laughing if he's actually succeeded, and you can't fault him for trying (definitely the best option). But is was a dwarf ... and he was trying to throw the ball!

The real stars though? All those block/tackle/guard/stand firm dwarves. They are horrible players that can make any amazon coach miserable in no time.

Well it seems them orks could do everything today, everything that is except count.

Maybe it's due to them having to count all the TDs they ran up. But Slayer Stephen knows how to count, atleast to two. Thats right TWO CAS not one like them women insist.

------------------- Twahnlow Votes -------------------
3pts: Bone Krasha got into the back field and took on two runner to run a very dwarf depressing TD

2pts: Zara, she didnt really do much but that extra str4 really cut down our options

1pt : Back Breaka the 3rd str4 in the lineup and once again everywhere we looked there was a str4 player. really got me flustered in my bucket.
