“The day was hot, swelteringly so. The Adepts recieved the first kickoff and slowly marched their way down the field taking a few Duskriders out of the game in the process. Unfortunately a rip in the universe caused some funny things to happen at the end of the half. Some blocks had to be re-rolled and where failed, and players from both teams took ethereal form. Despite the Chaos, Ino Understanding kept his head and managed to rumble in for his first ever TD.
The second half was as sweltering as the first and the elves did their dance, steering clear of theier slower opponents, searching for an opening. Dwindling numbers forced their hand and finally Vilecurse Ranklow broke through, despute a solid hit he managed to dust himself off and stroll in with only a few turns to go.
Finally however the heat proved to much for the depleted Duskriders and only three took the field for the final drive. Despite some valiant efforts on their part, Genko manage to throw off a would be tackler and stuble in for the game winning TD.
Twahnloes
3pts: Vilecurse Ranklow- He can jump high, and this skill was the key to the duskrieds only score.
2pts:Blackshade Fogdrifter II- This manouverable elf managed to stay upright and weasel into unwanted places enough to warrant 2 votes.
1pt:Duskwind Strongarm-Toughest thrower I've ever seen, he shrugged off the Bull like he was a fly. Did a good job directing the scoring drive
GG Leo, twas indeed a strange one with the drop and the heat, but that JBB for ya :)”
An irritating game from my perspective where we just couldn't seem to make our dodges after an encouraging start. Played in very hot conditions, The Cdorfs were on their game from the very outset and had the ball well and truly protected through most of the first half. I thought I defended pretty well and I did get one (failed) shot at the ball carrier, Abhaya. The Adpets were under pressure to score at the end and it required a desperation play by Ino Understanding to get the lead at half time. Annoyingly though, the connection broke at the wrong time and the reload was imperfect as from my end, Ino waltzed through one of my players tackle zones 3 times in order to score. He might have done it anyway but would have need at least one dodge to succeed. Not criticising you Flo as you weren't to know your screen didn't match mine ; just frustrating after a good defensive effort.
The second half the bashing/fouling started taking effect and I was down to just five players when Strongarm stepped up and threw a long bomb to a waiting Ranklow who leapt out of a blanket of markers to catch the ball just shy of the endzone. He coudln't survive the blitz from Abhaya but with no one else within co-ee was able to get up and retrieve the pill to score in the following turn.
Sadly heatstroke affected two or our remaining five players and altho we tried valiantly to prevent a winning score, short of some bad dice by the Adepts they were always going to score in the remaining two turns.
We were never in the hunt for the win but might have secured a draw with a little more luck, but not to be.
Twahnlow Votes.
3 Points. Abhaya. Do I always vote for this guy ? It must be because he is annoyingly consistent at picking up and passing the ball when needed. He carried the ball all through the first half, held off a crucial block late in the first half to avoid a turnover as well as blitzing Ranklow on the line to at least force me to dodge/pickup to score our only TD.
2 Points. Genko. A nice RIP :( but more importantly caught the pass he needed to to score the decider. If he'd muffed it, would have been a draw.
1 Point. Ino Understanding for the TD in the first half. He had to catch the handoff and GFI without a reroll to score so give him credit for that. Even if he did cheat by ignoring the tacklezone he didn't know was there ! :D
