“With Barktooth nursing a rather serious injury the Buckland Brewers turned to Deeproot Strongbranch, the world famous Treeman to bolster their rather fragile front line. The fans greeted the signing with passion and song as the star player pulled on the Brewers jersey and with the rain gving way to sunshine moments before kick-off there was much to look forward to in this match.
Despite having the number advantage the Haflings looked slight on the pitch and had to provide a solid defense in the first half to prevent the Orc drive from scoring. Excellent man-marking proved the key as the Galfag rusher tripped on turn 8 to force the turnover.
In the second half Meriadoc proved himself once more to be a player of some potential as he hurtled through teh air and slipped into the endzone for an easy TD.
Could they defend for the remainder of the period to run out victors?
Burzhosh the Masher fell under the relentless pounding to Morg and looks set to miss the next game with an injury. With the big man gone it was too much for Deeproot to rally the Brewers and indeed the fans in a bloody second half. Player after player was forced to the dugout with knocks and sprains and the Orcs pushed home for the score in the 8th.
Feeling the weight of expectation, Meriadoc fumbled the ball and the game ended. The fans disapointed as the young Halfling they have grown to love let the team down in the final moments when victory could almost be tasted.
A fair result in the end but the loss of Burzhosh for the next game will put a lot of pressure on Barktooth to turn up on time. Failure to do so could end the unbeaten run the Brewer's are currently enjoying.”
