The first half was an exciting affair, when the WDDs ball carrier was left unguarded with a failed turn 2 dodge. An unfortunate bounce (for us) left the ball in 2 TZs, but we were able to recover it, and Leg Breaka streaked away towards the end zone. Unfortunately (due to some poor counting on my part), she was left just within range of Mikey the Bikey, who had no trouble knocking her out, and ensuring the safety of the ball once again. After that, the WDDs had no trouble scoring a touchdown in turn 4.
Our counter-drive was a little weak, and erik played a solid defence, trapping the ball, and slowing us down too much. I really have to learn to play offence (not that it was a terrible offence, just that eriks defence was way too good for it). Anyway, our eventual break for the end-zone was cut short, and the Timmy The Dugong threw the ball just out of range, preventing any real chance we had at a touchdown.
The second half saw the girls pull into gear, inflicting a couple of BHs, and a couple more KOs, but not really enough to make the difference. In hindsight, I should have stalled it out (if the thrower was out, it would have been a different story), but we decided to try for a win, and foolishly scored in turn 5. The woodies had no trouble scoring (unfortunately), so basically, we were screwed. Needing a 2 turner is never good with mv6 all round, and with Loony Tossa out, as well as a perfect defence, we didn't stand a chance. Van B's interception was just the sort of thing we needed to rub it in.

3 pts - #12 Mikey the Bikey
Crucial to the WDDs, Mikey was the only tackler on the team. erik protected him well, and though he didn't actually deal out any casualties, there were several KOs and timely stuns that made a big difference. He also got in the way with his SS and DT. Oh, and he also made the vital POW on Bone Krasha in the first half. Next time he must DIE! (nothing personal erik, I just don't like him)
2 pts - #5 Timmy The Dugong
Also crucial in preventing our attempted first turn equaliser, Timmy was rude enough to put the ball one square too far away for me to have a good shot at a touchdown. One square closer, and it would have been an AG5 rather than an AG2 player going for the ball (an equaliser in the first half probably would have lost the game for the woodies).
1 pt - #16 Van B
A key player in the WDDs lineup - and an outstanding thrower. He even made an interception just when it wasn't needed (I guess that's any time) -- it was probably overkill, as I still needed to make two dodges, one of which was 6+ (diving tackle).”
“With the Orcs topping the table and games starting to run out this was a must win game for the Double Double.
The WDDs almost had a full squad with only Golden Child missing the game having been called up for jury duty. Mikey the Bikey was back after the coach had given him the last game off to get fresh for this encounter.
The Woodies started the game on offence but things quickly turned sour. Van B was moving the ball up field but his team mates could not get away from the she orcs to give him any support. Completly exposed Van B was knocked to the ground and Loony Tossa got the ball and sent Leg Breaka running towards the endzone. Mikey the Bikey had other ideas though. With some help from Neil G he not only managed to catch up with the runaway orc but also knocked her out! With this threat snuffed out the Men of Wood commence their offence plans once again. The zons had commited down one side of the pitch and could not get back across in time as Neil G and Crowlockasarus linked up to get Devon over the line for a 1-0 lead.
The next drive was always going to be make or break for the WDDs. With the tittle on the line it was all hands on deck for defence. Mikey the Bikey was causing mayhem and was well supported by all his teammates. The W.F.W.O offence was slowed to a standstill but they still had the ball well covered in the capable hands of Bone Krasha. With time running out Crowlock and Mikey made a daring attempt at the ball. Mikey once again shoed us his A-game knocking the ball once. A nice bounce and Timmy The Dugong managed to pick up and throw the ball to safety (although Elbow Kikka got a little to close to getting the ball into the endzone).
1-0 at Half time and the boys were all confident. The Girls handbags at 10 paces attitude to blocking meant the Woodies still had a full complement of players. However the Orcs were not coming first for no reason. A typical grinding cage move and some much improved blocking caught the Elves resting on their laurels. Bone Krasha once again had the ball very secure and the WDDs were losing players fast. With a draw being good enough to stay in first for the Zons it was a big surprise to all when Bone Krasha rushed into the endzone with still plenty of time left on the clock. (This could have been becuase last game between these teams Bone Krasha was blamed for the loss because of stopping to sign autographs before scoring, allowing the Woodies to get back and stop here scoring at all!) What ever the reason it was 1-1 and game On!
Van B was not going to trust his team mates this time and took the ball well away from the front the. With the ball safe, The Men of Wood streamed through the centre of the park going for a shotgun style offence with plenty of recievers. It worked a treat with the Zons not being able to cover all the Options. Mikey cleared a path (via knocking out Loony Toosa), Van B put the Ball right into Rus Loves hands and the score was 2-1 in the blink of an eye.
With time running out and Loony Toosa still unconscious W.F.W.O had to take some desperate options. but they struggled to find a way through the Woodies perfect defence. Mikey capped of his stella game by once again knockin Bone Krasha to the ground and applied preasure to the only other Orc close enough to score before full time. In the end it did not matter as Van B interecepted the pass on the siren and sent the Woodie Fans into raptures.
All in all it was a near flawless performance from the Woodies puts them in the lead for the Premier tittle race.
Twahnlows
3pts: Bone Krasha - She is one tuff Orc. If Mikey was not having the game of his life she would have proved impossible to get the ball off
2pts: Head Stompa - Proved very difficult to move and was always helping teammates bring the Woodies down.
1pt: Elbow Kikka - Made me very nervous at the end of the 1st half and also contirubuted some good solid fouls.
Cheers for the game Lav i am already looking forward to our next tussle. ”
