“After missing out on a nice game of elfball due to an opponents technical problems the Fury were thrown into a tough looking game against an Orc team 49/59 superior and missing the ST4 blodger Fear. Things looked slightly better with Virus taking out the useful looking AG4 gobbo and Duh! placed on the star Orc blitzer.
Choosing to receive to try and put something on the board the Fury tried their usual tactic of flooding their opponent's half with potential receivers but found things hard going. Taking a risk a pass found Anger who chose to try and stall to make things tougher for the Monarchs and avoid having to GFI without a RR. This looked to have been foiled when he was KOed from a RR one dicer but with only on Monarch guarding the loose ball Ignorance blitzed it free and took the TD.
Hoping to slow the green tide by slowly giving ground appeared to be working but a blitz on the other goblin to brak through and put tacklezones on the ball carrier fell foul of double skulls and the Orcs blocking improved. However the Orcs failed to make sufficient ground and the Fury were relieved to hear the halftime whistle and go in leading at half time.
With a draw in sight the Fury set about trying to prevent a quick Orc score by attacking the Monarchs probing blitzers and then trying to disrupt the greenskins cage. With a helpful drooling spell from the Monarch's Troll the Fury were able to blitz open a hole in a fractured cage and put two blodgers, one with sidestep on the Orc ball carrier. Unable to take the side stepper down the Orc thrower attempted to dodge through like an elf to the line but failed spilling the ball into the crowd who threw it to the opposite side of the pitch. The Fury took their opportunity and secured the ball and tried to formulate a plan to keep hold of it for the remaining 3 turns. Deciding to pass to a blodging blitzer who was to move the ball back up the pitch rather than punt and risk a fumble the Orcs attempted to surround the ball carrier but could not bring him down. Handily KOing the attacking Black Orc Anger broke free and with a desperate Troll dodge manoeuvre failing he scored to seal an unlikely win.
As surprised as anyone at the result, the Fury had managed to avoid serious injury to take a reserve into the next match for the first time in a long time and look to have a chance to avoid going back into the regionals.”
