It was the battle of the Blues as the Velvets hoped to continue their winning ways after nabbing a RRR championship against pizza s upstart Extremities.
Things started out with the Velvets receiving, trying to slowly push the ball downfield. The dark elves slowly gave ground and blocked off all lanes. Finally a small hole developed and the zon thrower attempted a quick pass for a break away. However, the pass was errant (worth noting that the Velvets have failed to complete a pass in 5 games... and not for lack of trying) and the DEs swarmed the ball.
The Zons attempted to recover but the elf agility kept them out of reach and the DEs scored with just a few ticks left on the clock.
With little time left a bad kick helped the Zons get the ball in the hands of blitzer Vazquez who bravely pushed deep downfield. Swarmed by elves, she was narrowly able to block and dodge her way to the end zone for the tying score.
The second half started with the Extremities caging the ball nicely, but for a significant stretch both teams wallowed in futility, failing action after action.
Once composure slowly returned the DEs found themselves in a tight pinch as the zons had swarmed the cage and a couple injured elves put them a serious disadvantage. The struggle for the ball was back and forth and a DE break away was successfully chased down by the more numerous zons, ending with a clinching score by the Velvets.
An excellent match against an excellent opponent. Always up for a rematch!”
