“With an unlikely win in their previous game and all the team fit to play for once the Fury felt fairly confident against one of the few team in the division not to completely outclass them. The Duh! handicap was used on the nasty looking Block/Claw beast to avoid using is on the three skilled beast as he could niggle out, which he duly did.
With things looking up the Fury decided again to receive but could only push back and then managed to fumble the ball. Rotting looked to put pressure on the ball but their dice managed to be worse with a re-rolled 2D block double skulling. The Fury hoped to capitalise on this but again failed to pick up, this time with a RR. Rotting again pushed for the ball but could only scatter it to an even more Fury dominated spot. With both teams going into turn 3 with luck scores of less than 20% it was hardly looking like a classic. The Fury managed to finally pick up the ball but were so badly out of position that the Fury thrower was then blitzed by a beastman, but it could do no better than to bring both of them down. Sensing an opportunity a rather dumb use of blitz instead of block left a rather easy score very difficult but the dice finally went in their favour and the Fury managed to open the scoring.
As with their previous match the Fury had to try to slow down a cage enough to go in with a halftime lead. In the final turn the Fury had a good chance to put multiple tacklezones on the ball carrier but double skulled the vital blitz to leave a reasonably easy Rotting score.
Things looked bad as the Nurglites caged steadily down the pitch from the second half kick off and a couple of attempts at pressurising the ball carrier failed. However chancing a 2d against blitz with a block lineman against the blockless ball carrier paid off with a double pow and a loose ball with both teams having multiple tacklezones on its position. Rotting failed to block the ball clear but the Fury managed to reduce it to one tacklezone and risked a pick up. This worked perfectly and the Fury were able to form a loose defence to defend the ball carrier. With the opposition only able to mark Ignorance he was blitzed free to enable him to score a second.
With three turns left Rotting had to move fast to rescue the game and were much aided by a touchback. However their blocking left them down and to add insult to injury their ball carrier was felled and the ball landed in Fury territory and two Fury linemen were able to work together to score a third.
This was a very odd game dicewise with many double 1s and double skulls hindering the best laid plans of both teams but crucially the dice came together for the Fury when it really mattered aside from the Rotting score. The Fury sit in some disbelief at the top of the table.”
“Once more we battle with these furious elves
And once again they prove hard to defeat
Tougher than they look and handy with the ball
Ne'er mind, we rotters cannot win them all”
