“Game two, for the 'Duffers', ended in defeat today by a score of 0-3 against 'Elfi d'Irpinia' a well drilled Wood Elf team.
Any comprehensive match report on a game like this one would just be too long. Just suffice it to say that 'd'Irpinia' were pure class from start to finish. It would certainly be easier to list their players that had merely average performances, than the ones that were brilliant. Blocks aplenty, three TD's, a host of complete passes and more rushing square's than after a bomb-scare at a Star Trek convention, there aren't enough superlatives to describe the winning team today.
Before the game, there had been high hopes for the 'Duffers' having managed to coax 'Barney "Let's Rumble" Gumble' up from the floor of the mens-room at Moe's and onto the field. Surely a vital addition for this one game, one would think, to help strengthen the line against the opposition Treeman. This was not to be the case however, as 'Barney' was brutaly injured by the aforementioned Treeman in the opening seconds of the game, never to return.
When asked about the horrific defeat, 'Duffers' coach 'Hotspurstu' said to our reporter after the game, "still though; our hopes dashed, the players battered and bruised and the boys are still smiling." When asked why, the coach responded,"because we're dropping 'Moe' off at the hospital for some treatment on the serious injury he picked up and then going to his tavern, while he's not there, to drink all his beer 'till we're sucking the pipes dry. A good day for all, i think you'll agree. Thank you, no further comment, we've got beer to drink."
So it seems that all the players on the field today will leave with something to smile about. All exept 'Moe' that is, who i'm sure will be trying to get discharged from the hospital ASAP.”
