The Blight went into this game knowing they needed 2 points to stay in Premier. Pity the coach forgot this and asked for a full 110% committment for the win from his players.

The Blight took a hit early on with Chunkreski being Niggled in the first block of the game. The blight couldn't do much to stop WDD from scoring. 1-0.

Pushing forward, we managed to KO and stun quite a few elves and caged the ball as best we could. Erik got unlucky on some blitzes and we managed to score on turn 8. 1-1 half time.

2nd Half and the Coach's absent mind forgot to stall and cage. We pressed forward, only for the ball to be stripped and a failed double GFI meaning we couldn't blitz the ball carrier. We even almost managed 4 straight 4+ dodges to blitz the carrier again, only for the last dodge to fail and BH the blitzer. Then, to add injury to insult (and not the other way around) Pegoski, long term Vet of the team got Niggled and Gregor was mashed.

All in all a forgettable game. Erik played well and we threw away the draw. Still, given we would have had 5 niggles in Prem (2 of them MNGs) and no cash for players, would we have wanted to stay in?

The Blight's visit to Prem was fun, but one thing it did teach me is that in Prem your mistakes are usually capitalised on by your opponents.

Votes

#3 - Neil George Wallington - 2 TDs

#2 - Big Gay Al - Block, Dodge and Guard is very very annoying and a Cas toboot.

#1 - Holmsy - I knew he'd play a big part of the team, but couldn't take him out.

The Woodies Double Double have done it. 6 seasons, 37 games, 104 TDs and 27 players is all it took for the Woodies to claim Premier Glory!

Credit to the Blight though, they did not make it easy. Management must have been sweatting on their decision to turn down a guest apperance from the famous Star Blocker Deeproot Strongbranch.

Things started swimmingly for the WDDs. Dammo sent Chunkreski Ograpund to an early shower (and hip replacment) and Van B set up Neil G.W. for a lightning quick TD.

The Norseman fought back hard on offence though. Nikoleiv was making his presence felt and the Woodies defence folded like a pack of cards. Any hope of a quick TD and a reprieve was soon dashed as Tlottleender Faqua shut up shop just short of the Endzone. With the Woodies leaving the field in droves underneath the boots of Satanoffski Mushtova they could not manage to to find a way throught the norse cage. The ref finally got his act together and sent of the offending Blighter just before Faqua made it 1-1 on the stroke of half time.

The phyiso room worked overtime during the break and managed to get a full team of 11onto the pitch. Huchy put an end to Nikoliev's night when he caught unprotected on the ground. This seemed to break the moral of the Blight who without the tailismanic blitzer failed to get a rolling cage going. With a Premier title on the line it was all men on deck for the Woodies defence with even Van B getting his hands dirty. The Norse offence was brought to a standstil, although Oldbugmanof still had plenty of surport.
A slight gap opened up in WDD defencive line and Oldbugamof took a chance and drated through the hole. He was clear of the Woodies line but was all on his lonesome. It was upto Mr reliable Holmsy to put in the covering tackle. He brought the Norse catcher to the ground and the ball squirted out behind him. Van B swopped in a got the ball out trouble and in to the waiting arms of Devon. Devon had made a dash towards the opposited side just to far for the Norseman to catch him (mainly thanks to the slippery ground underfoot). Devon got himself an escort and was ready to run down the field for the winning TD. The Blight were not going to lie down fightin however. One of the Norse Blitzers managed to dodge his way in and bring devon to ground. Luckily Van B was nearby to clean up again and send Neil George clear of the few remaing Norse defenders. Neil then brought the crowd to their feet as he strolled across the line bringing the Woodies Double Double the Championship and sending them into the History books.

Twahnlows

3pts: Nikoliev 'Shloss!' Sazzeyev - This guy was a menace. If Huchy had not gotten rid of him at the start of the 2nd half the Woodies would have been for a real rough ride.

2pts: Molitov 'Bombski' Usslessy - Was a menace all game with his Stand Firm and Guard but gets the points for very nearly stopping the Woodies winning TD.

1pt: Tlottleender Faqua - Has the makings of a very handy player. Scored the only Blight TD

Cheers for the game Pat and sorry bout the damage down to your team. My boys were just a little bit over zealous. Good luck in the confs mate and hope to see you up in prem again.
