“Well this was a grudge match for the Machine as they were determined to avenge themselves for the 3-1 drubbing they received last year at the hands of the Warriors.
The pace and agility of the Warriors is feared by the slower Orcs and suitable tactics had to be devised.
The Elves received and scored in two turns as is normal for them, but the following Orc drive, was critical even though it did not see the score that was needed before the half time interval.
The drive saw 1 BH and 5 KO's inflicted on the Elves and that stood them in good stead in the second half. During this first half drive though, 2 fouls were made on the elves, both times against prone elves lying next to the ball carrier. No damage done.
In the second half the Machine was able to exploit its numerical advantage by driving down one wing with sufficient screening players to equalise.
The elves again received and tried to keep the ball deep in their own half, whilst sending a lone player into the Orc half. The runner upfield was marked by three Orcs and the ball carrier pressured by the Orcs charging upfield. The orcs managed to down the carrier shortly after and the crowd threw the ball back in so that it landed in the Elf TD Zone. This allowed the Machine to rush up and score.
2-1 The Machine.
A tough game with lost of doding and risky blocks, but in the end the higher AV and STR of the Orcs was for once of use against an Elf team.”
