“Prepared for the rain, the Brewer's fans had wrapped up warm and with little excitement coming from the field of play it was just as well!!!
The Rashing Gloves won the toss and elected to receive. Despite some poor handling with the slippery ball, the Glovers managed to screen the ball well and drive up the field. Up to their knees in mud and water, the Brewers battled bravely but the score was inevitable and came in the seventh turn.
A quick riposte was needed to see the scores even at the halfway stage but it just wasn't to be. Slippery ball and slippery players meant the pick up just never happened. A shame, 'cos with a 1-1 score line and receiving in the second half anything could have been possible.
Luck never manifested itself in the Buckland Brewer's attacking play and sure enough the fling was fumbled and forced the turnover. Despite some brave defending, the hobbits were being wheeled off the pitch all to often, leaving the ogres and 3 halflings to defend. It was never gonna happen!
Rashing Glovers forced the second score deep into injury time to see them ride out 2-0 victors. A close fought game nonetheless, mainly due to the torrential rain.
The fans left with dampened spirits and only hope the Brewer head coach can arrest the teams slump of three straight defeats. ”
