“A bloody and dirty match on the field. It started early with Butter Knife giving the boot to one of Web's star players on the first turn of the game and killing him. Apothecary saved the rat...but both sides fought dirty and did not pull any punches.
The first half was marked by great defense by the vampires...and poor passing by the rats. First the distinguished thrower misthrew a quick pass...then a gutter runner misthrew a quick pass and used up a team re-roll to no avail. The lack of passing (every pass attempted failed for the entire game for the rats) helped, but great defensive play was the key. However eventually Web scored to go up 1 - 0. The vampires had 3 turns...but an early turnover and Web smashing all the scoring threats changed their tactics as they put the boot in on Web's one-turner. Badly hurt the gutter runner limped off the field. The ref noticed both nasty fouls by the vampires...and both times their coach JXaing managed to argue that no...the linerat just suddenly had a heartattack...the gutter runner is just cramping up...successful arguing helped keep the dirty player on the field for the vampires. However they failed to score and the first half ended 1 - 0.
The second half began with a deep kick that opened a wedge between the vampires. The rats managed to cut inbetween and with their speed, a score was a certainly. Then some amazing play - a series of plays that only had a 3% chance of success by mortals was pulled off by the driven thralls. A long pass out of tackle zones and they had a chance...the pressure was on and back and forth action started with the ball getting knocked out left and right on both sides...fouls on both sides as each side fought for position and numbers - a few crowd surfs as well...nothing was held back and then finally the ball bounced in favor of Web and a linerat snatched the ball and raced off for the clinching score!
An excellent and well fought battle. Of interest, the three CAS inflicted by Web, 2 were on bothdowns on vampire blocks and one was on a bothdown on T16 as Web was looking to get some experience from a third TD, but came up short. Henckels the Vampire was niggled from before and the bothdown early in the game put him out with a second niggle. Likely he will be retired, but with a loss of fans and only 30k...the vampire's future is going to be rough going. However, we have confidence their coach will have them ready to play!”
