The Purple lizards first foray into Gary_Gygax s longstanding Blutballas tourney turned into a bloody crowd pleaser against the staunch human Killer Bees.
Things started off well for the lizards as Krox Big Mamma took a full turn of doing nothing but winding up for a devastating hit on the legendary star Mighty Zug. The mighty blow killed Zug, once and for all.
Rallied by the fierce hit, the lizards pushed hard into Human territory and scored, opting not to stall and risk any skink damage despite knocking a few humans off the pitch.
The Bees came swarming back to make the lizards regret that decision. The Humans made a strong push to the left and began knocking lizards from the field. Purple Saurus Rex was aided though by a mindful ref who ejected Joe Casey when he tried to avenge Zug with a good Mamma kickin.
With a narrow opening the lizards made a play on the ball. A successful blitz by Helen put the ball on the turf, but skink Bridge Largemeats ended up injuring himself in his effort to weave amongst humans to get to the ball. The Lizard medical staff rushed onto the field to attend the broken Bridge and in the confusion kicked the ball free of the scrum.
The Bees wasted no time scooping up the free ball and speedy catcher Lindsay quickly scored. With time running out, the lizards made a desperate attempt at a quick score before half.
With some nifty footwork and blocking, Slab Bulkhead was able to secure a rare skink completion for an unlikely score in the waning seconds of the half.
The second half started with The Bees receiving and employing a 2-pronged offensive attack. The lizards swarmed the Bees stars, with Helen shoving one catcher into the stands. However on the other end of the field the few skink defenders were man-handled and lineman Kralj was able to haul in a perfect pass by star thrower Ketola for the score.
A defensive blitz on the ensuing kickoff breifly put the ball in the hands of the Killer Bees, but once again Helen came through with a frenzied blitz. The ball was collected on the bounce and the lizards began to dominate the line. As the defense dwindled, the lizards slowly pushed down field. Content to score the winning goal at the buzzer.
A very exciting match-up. Thanks to RonnieColeman for a very fun and brutal contest! Looking forward to more Blutballa meetings in the future!”
