“Yar - Pirog is right, it was a very, very strange game. It's pretty tough to work out who had the 'luck' throughout, but neither of us could get away from the feeling that the game was rather out of our hands.
First half, from the very first dice roll (blitz! against the Rotters), I was on the back foot. The Lizzies had a large volume of blocks as I desperately tried to keep the ball moving away from the countless pushbacks I rolled. Eventually, after an ag4 to ag4 handoff ended in a double 1, the blodge Skink got away with it. Luckily, my Beast got up close and personal, and 0-0 at the half was assured. Of the 10 POWs or push-POWs I rolled all half, I got 3 cas and a KO, vs nothing against, so at least that went well! My guys were like those inflatable sumo wrestlers you can buy - you knock 'em down, and they spring back up to get whacked next turn without a scratch on them.
2nd Half was far more even on all counts, 4 dice at the blodge Skink gave me no POW, 1-0, then one ag4 led score back my way for 1-1. BH on a foul for me, RIP on a surf for him.
No worries about Long John, all part of the game. Rematch any time. It's a funny old game, huh?”
“Very weird match. The Geckos dominated the match during the first half and landed about a million blocks, causing not even a single KO. Plunder and Lightning probably scored less than a dousin and landed KO's and casualties on just about every one.
Despite being outnumbered in the 2nd half the Geckos could run in a TD, but the complete inability to put the opponents out of play made it very hard to defend the lead.
Oddly enough the only time during the entire match the Geckos put an opponent out of play, though a crowd push by the saurus Gorhuan, it ended with a fatality. That considered a tie didn't feel that unfair.
Thanks for the match, Purple. Sorry about Long John...that was a nice player.”
