“It was a tough game. In the first half we scored on our first possession. Then the vampires made a mistake, activating a vampire out of range of a thrall and it failed OFAB and caused a turnover - leaving the ballcarrier free, we pounced and soon we were up 2-0. However, our team was getting pounded by the vampires. For the last 5 turns of the first half, the Vampires had the ref and were fouling like mad. Another error by the vampires prevented them from scoring at the end of the first half and so it ended 2-0.
With our rats already being short players, the fouling and good luck on blocks continued by our opponent and we fielded 5-6 rats for most of the second half. After the vampires scored to make it 2-1, they failed to present a spread defense and Xander did not even need a dodge to scoot down the field and bring the lead back to 3-1. The vampires had the numbers and continued to have good luck with the ball handling and blocks and pushed down the field to quickly make it 3-2. Xander struck again to score in one turn to make it 4-2. The vampires were done, so just a score and foul on T16 and it was over.
An exciting game where good first half play managed to get us a lead and then outnumbered 2-1 we held on to the lead for the victory.
The opposing coach:
"Ah, the Brood's long-awaited second loss... to some doubles on skill rolls and a lack of excessive 1s rather than coaching ability.
Wuld've tied if I hadn't just hit enter when the OFAB question came up, but I just glanced at it and didn't count - so poor Valen failed the sole GFI she needed to score at the end of the first half.
On a more pleasant note, this was my first Turn 16 foul in a long while. Sadly, it didn't cause injury and only one player was permanently damaged in this game."
To this our only response can be that we welcome a rematch. It was a good game where the majority of the luck seems to rest with the vampires, but a few critical coaching mistakes by them gave us the oppotunity to the victory. You want a rematch, let us know.”
