“A tale of two halves. We took the opening kick down for a score, but then it was all elves. They scored quickly to make it 1-1, then came a key part of the game. We screwed up and failed to score...but tried to in T8 and our mistake was compounded when perfectly coached elves grabbed the ball and scored themselves. To start the second half they got the ball again and it was 3-1 by the second turn of the second half. We knew we had to score and quick, so some chain pushes and Buffy was pushed downfield partway - then snagged the ball and with RR (used already that turn) she made 2 gfi to score. Risky, but this time we were rewarded. The score was 3-2 and now we tried to put the pressure on the elves. Again, it was risky, but we pressured them...the thrower dodged away, but our pass blocker was in range and the tackle zone made the difference as the elf fumbled the ball on the pass RR and we picked it up to score again...making it 3-3. The elves were enraged over our pass blocking gutter runner getting in the way and it showed as they proceeded to kill 2 of our players in one turn. Apothecary saved one...but Xander (94 spp annd 26 TDs) was killed. Although we mourn the loss of our super-star, he had been niggled and was playing the LOS - his time had come. The elves tried to score on T16, but failed a tough dodge and the ball bounced to a linerat, Achilles. 2 2d blocks and a handoff to Astra, and we scored to complete an improbable comeback against a fun and good opponent. Certainly a game we will remember.
