Well, I started this game thinking it was going to be a bloodbath but what i got was a FARCE!! </malthor>

:P

Never confident of anything when playing against coaches of this calibre, I was extremely negaconfident going into this match. It started brightly enough though when Baba RIP'd a Saurus with the very first block of the game. Apoth worked and it seems as if that was my full allotment of blood allowed for this game. My fabled and much admired silver boot holding duo where subjugated to an unwarranted and totally outlandish display of whistle blowing from the ref (obviously in the lizards back pocket that one) Both of them only managing a single foul each before getting sent off.

Faulcon coached it well and deserved a win over the Hapless undead. Fortunately he only got a draw. A blitz by the Deadmen on turn 15 put a slight bump in the road to drawcity, but the chance was snuffed out by the agile skinks.

The Deadmen curse of losing 2 possitionals in the first game of the season has been seemingly broken! This is the best shape the team has been in going into a second round. Huzzah!

Twahnlows:

Xies-ler-aym - 3 points. He did everything, Including the pressure intercept on t16 and the only Cas we suffered. When one of the ghouls tripped and BH himself trying to foul a prone Xies-ler-aym. :)

Rthsy - 2 points. 11 blocks, nice effort despite being a bit of a target with his MB

Nnchchghaueaoi - 1 point. A point for each yard rushed.

There were the pre game psychological battles as the undead dropped a couple of dead bodies to get a second handicap which was matched by the skinks sacking some coaching staff to deny the second handicap. This may have upset the other undead because right from the kickoff the only tackler slipped some knuckledusters onto the pitch, the coin toss went to the home side, and immediately upon commencement second gamer Shsst was having his head stitched back onto his shoulders (fortunately this stitch in time saved, well at least 80k). Andre tried to match Baba but was only capable of a KO on Kzhsh. From there the first half was mostly downhill with the chief exception being the attention paid to British Bulldog by an observant referee. Still as the half wore on, the skinks were able to maneouver into position to threaten the first touchdown which was then rushed earlier than the undead would have been hoping. Early enough in fact that Choochoo was able to snatch the kickoff, race up to Xies who scampered downfield and over for the equaliser right on half time.

Xies was feeling in the groove and as the second half started, despite the shambling corpses on the other side of the field finding some time to rearrange their defence after kicking the ball he was straight through the middle of the line and off down field. He road the last gasp ghoul tackle, then slipped through another ghoul's grasps with ease to give the skinks an unlikely lead. As the game resumed the lizards started losing numbers badly with 4 of the scaled brethren being helped to the bench after seeing stars but the ref had his eyes firmly set on those silver boots the undead were wearing and sent off Heavy Forger with commendable alacrity. Still 6 lizards on the pitch were finding things heavy going but when a handoff was fumbled Xies was there to race in and snatch the ball up from under two ghouls. And get knocked down. And get back up and snatch the ball again from 2 ghouls and a mummy. It seemed the little legend was reaching his limits though as his attempted pass was fumbled and left the door open. A door through which the undead gratefully shambled, a handoff/pass combination giving their turn to bring the scores even. With one turn remaining the skinks set up for the last kickoff, hoping against hope to squeeze in just a little extra time for xies to work some magic. Disastrously it was the undead however who managed to stop the clock as they rushed forward before the ball had landed throwing the skinks well off balance and threatening to overturn the result. Andre was looking to increase his repertoire to include ball handling duties as he fielded the kickoff, shook off several scrambling skink defenders and hurled the ball towards the waiting Dave Vicious, but Xies had taken advantage of the restart to get his breath back and grabbed the pass before Dave could get his mitts on it. And thus the match ended with honours even. Deadmen 2. Xies 2.

Twahnlows:

Giant Baba II - 3 points. For damn near giving me a heart attack when he killed a saurus with the first action of the game. Glad the scaley ones were that it didn't set the tone for the game but things looked rather grim there for a brief moment.

Rick Rude - 2 points. Given the ball handling duties and didn't disappoint. His hands were like glue when the ball passed by him. Not his fault the other players couldn't hold onto the pill.

Classy Freddy Blassie - 1 point. Something no skink likes seeing. Block. Tackle. Mighty Blow. All in one package. After the sneaky devil slipped a foreign object into the ring to belt his opponents with he proceeded to belt them with great gusto and only the vagaries of nuffle kept him from the rain of lizard blood he must have been anticipating.
