With a rookie thrower on the team, and two of the linemen still feeding through straws, the Buccaneers quickly found that their luck hadn't turned yet. Their Wood-Elf kindred outran, outthrew, outfought and outscored them throughout the entire first half, putting a 2-0 on the board as if they were playing against four halflings high on pipeweed!
But Coach Indyana was looking at his bench, worry clearly clouding his features, since the 11-10 advantage in numbers had turned into a 7-10 disadvantage. Half time gave them some respite, but the odds were turning, and the Buccaneers could smell it in the air (either that, or the sugar cane that had fallen on the pitch when an overly zealous goblin fanatic had started swinging the candy around and had hit a visiting minotaur in the eye, with the inevitable ruckus forcing the referee to turn back the clock).
The Buccaneers dogged their charges throughout the entire second half, leaving gaps in their defences but aiming for that one mistake that would give them possession of the ball, and they were able to pull a 2-2 score by the end of the third quarter (taking into account the time it took the janitors to gather the pieces of the goblin fanatic).
With only a precious few minutes left in the game, the rookie thrower Viridiel finally made his first completion of the match after dodging a number of opponents, and thereby allowed his team to place the winning point on the board.
Great game, Indyana, and good luck with your team! We'll do a rematch on this one asap :) ”
