#9 Bellua – Smashed Knee (NI)
Game 17

The first half went well for the chaos side, with the undead numbers on the pitch constantly falling. The Deadmen intimidated the ref early in the half, but constant pressure from Schola kept them from being able to effectively foul, having lost their on pitch DP on the first turn certainly didn't help the undead.

The second half started falling apart rapidly. The Count took the ball deep into Deadman territory while two undead went deep into Schola's territory. A failed blitz onto the two ball receivers saw the blitzer unluckily on the ground unable to do anything. A quick shuffle forward (still well withing undead territory) by the Count and he easily tossed it long distance to the ghoul waiting to trot across the line. A quick stall by the undead almost undid them, but unluckily for Schola, their blitzer again was nuffled and unable to influence the play. A failed handoff (with RR) on the next drive left the ball on the ground where it was picked up in multiple tz and taken to safety by the count. Yet another failed blitz saw the undead in position to score.

So in summary, the first half went well, with luck on Schola's side as far as injuries were concerned. The second half however wildly swung the luck in the Deadmens favour, with them succeeding in all their critical rolls, whereas Schola failed all their critical rolls to stop the TD's. Without the dice on the undead's side in the second half the game would definitely have had a different ending. Also without the Count they would have had no chance. However, the Deadmen survived Scholas good luck, then took good advantage of Schola's bad luck and came out with a good win, catapulting them into an almost unassailable league position.

Twahnlow votes:
3 - #15 Count Von Drakenborg - not getting knocked over, blitzing, dodging, picking up the ball in multiple tz, throwing the ball long distances, nothing this guy couldn't do
2 - #5 Junkyard Dog - good positioning and massive movement made him invaluable
1 - #4 Delicious Dave Vicious - blodging sidestepper that survived the entire game, and scored, nicely done

#9 Flyin Brian Pillman – Broken Ribs (MNG)
#9 Flyin Brian Pillman – Smashed Knee (NI)
After the humiliation of the game v The Ancients, the Deadmen had plenty to prove. The Coffers were emptied and Count Blockula was hired to give us a bit of backbone.

Schola won the toss and chose to receive. The Deadmen got the Ref! Unfortunately, the brutal first turn by Schola removed the DP from the field and BH'd a ghoul. On the back foot already and with the ball in the arms of a St5 CW (.... thanks Lel! ), Andre Blitzed the exposed Mino and put him down. He was going to cop a gang foul but in moving back into a position to cover our flank, Andre rolled a dbl 1 on the gfi and promptly fell over and stunned himself. More KO's and cas ensued, with Andre Regenning a RIP but off the field for the drive. We did not get to use an effective foul all half and GTR was completely wasted.

Schola ended up rolling a TD in, but not before the 5 remaining Deadmen on the pitch made him work for it. Every second player that went down was getting stunned though and there was only so much we could do. A great play by the count and Baba saw the ST5 CW knocked out and the ball loose, but ensuing stuns and a failed rerolled pickup by a ghoul saw our chance to score dissapear. Still, it was a Bonza play. but perhaps i should have tried to pick the ball up with the Wight.

Start of second half - We attempted a drive, but only knocked a single player over on the first turn. The ball was in the hands of the count, and he ended up having to retreat deep back into his own half while JYD and DDV were sent forward to try and draw some defenders back and to give me a quick scoring opportunity. A draw would not do my Prem hopes any good at all. More KO's and Cas later and the count was able to throw a Long Pass to DDV through a corridor left open by the scholar players (thanks Quod) and DDV ran it to the corner before deciding to stall for a single turn. This allowed quod to get a beastman TZ on the ball carrier. He (bellua) was blitzed into the corner of the End Zone by JYD (choosing the pushback rather than the down) and then surfed by the block from DDV, who followed up for the TD. Bellua was subsequently Niggled by the crowd. Quods first perm injury in 15 or 16 games.

We then kicked off to Scholar, who bashed for a bit before attempting a hand off to a CW again. The had off went wrong and the ball was left on the ground. The Deadmen snapped into action, putting 3 TZ's on the ball. Andre pushed to get his bulk near the ball as well but fell and stunned himself (again) on the last gfi. Scholar failed to clear the tz's and a beastman fell over on a dodge. This was all the opening we needed and the count waltzed in and retrieved it from under the nose of a angry cw and a beastman before retreating back to safety behind the guard of a zombie. Quod then proceeded to move all his players to exactly where I was praying him to and in the next turn it was cake for me to clear a path for JYD to make a get away. The count handed the ball off to him and away he went.

And thats how it ended. Scoring the game winner on T15 and much rejoicing in my pants followed.

So, one of my best victories after my worst defeat. We kicked chaos arse, defeated dodgey dice and kept ouselves in contention for a spot in premier for season XX.

Twahns:

3 points : #4 Dominus Quod - An early cas and constant stuns and KO's

2 points : #2 Dominus Deus - 12 blocks from a cw with claw block and tackle. Highest work rate by far on the field for both teams. Unlucky not to have scored a bag of cas.

1 point : #6 Bellator - 1 cas and the foul that RIP'd Andre the Giant.
