Not much to add to Stus brilliant report, except elaborate on the genius of this game. This is by far the most intense and demanding Blood Bowl-game I've ever played! Two teams matching in strength, and two coaches determind to win the Siegewar.

Our fellow members of the League really missed out on not spectating this one! Except SecondMind, who eventually had to quit because of the suspense... (it might also have something to do with the fact that the match lasted 3 1/2 hours...!)

The final result in no way represent how the game developted. If I was to be the one to win, the score should be: Woodfellas 3 - 2,9 Vis Uban MS

As always, Stu excelled in sportsmaship and entertainment value!!!
Thanks Stu, for the best game ever!

Result - NAMELESS CUP 2 (Quarter Final Game)

"We will fight them on the pitches.
We will kick them when they're down.
We'll even play like Dwarves if we have to.
We will NEVER SURRENDER." (hotspustu's pre-game speech)

On this momentous occasion the world's blood bowl fans saw two great elven teams emerge from the murk of the Nameless League ready to do battle on the field of dreams. Many pundits had predicted some rather open, high scoring, affairs, but this was not to be the case. Though the opening score in the first few turns for the 'Woodfells' perhaps suggested it may go as predicted the 'Vis Uban Mighty Shields' had other ideas.

Inspired by the pre-game speech of the 'Shields' coach 'hotspurstu' they adopted a gameplan that many didn't expect, deciding to cage the ball in their own half and see if they couldn't run down the clock and then attempt a late score so as to deny a response before half time. The plan first seemed to be failing until they managed to break down the wing with some protection for their catcher. Just when it looked like they'd score the 'Woodfellas' player 'Jotun' managed to remove the talismanic 'Sinnuha' with a vicious blow to the groin, putting him out for this game and the next with a serious injury, unless the apothecary could work his magic. Needless to say he failed and with him went any hopes of a late score in the first half.

More of the same in the second half as the 'Shield' moved their cage around the pitch managing to score and draw level with just a couple of turns left to go. They then tried valiantly to stop a repeat of the quick score the last time the 'Woodfellas' had the ball right back at the start of the game. In their efforts to defend for overtime they saw the 'Woodchippen' Wonderboys' kill their star player 'Prince Moranian' and then work a hole for the thrower to break for a game winning pass in turn 16. Unbelievably he dropped the ball at the key moment and the geme went to overtime.

Down ten players now the 'Shield' pressed on unabated into the 'Woodfellas' half and after quite a skirmish they managed to make an opening for the catcher to run in for his second of the game and perhaps the winner. Unfortunately he failed the dodge before the run for the TD and fell, dropping the ball right near the opposing players. The 'Woodfellas' then got the ball wide and fairly safe and despite repeated efforts to dislodge it on it's journey to the endzone there was nothing the boys from 'Vis Uban' could do, with the game winning score finally going in in turn 6 of overtime. A lop-sided attempt to try to equalise yet again then failed after a great kick by the 'Woodfellas' and that was all she wrote for this one. The 'Woodfells' ran in a much deserved third, as reward for their game long professionalism in turn 8 of overtime, just to put the icing on their cake of victory.

What a game.........

What great teams..........

What more could the fans have asked for?

Nothing! That's what.

Well maybe some cushioned seats as it went on so bloody long.

Good luck Rolf and well played mate.
