“Prior to the match The Fjorir Konungr were advised that Ulfr Spjot, leading thrower, and the last original player in the squad had been retired due to a niggling injury caused by his age. The shocking news was lessened somewhat by the fact that Ulfr had agreed to stick around as the teams Throwing coach.
It was agreed the team would play in his honour, in pouring rain the Konungr took the field, with high hopes and an attitude of success. The Lizards they faced were in trouble from the get go.
Dazza and Optimus were both removed from the field after violent hits from the Norse blockers, Stevo played like a lizard in the rain...cold and wet he was hardly worth the effort to block down, but block him down Falki did. Again and again.
The rookie thrower Egill Porbrandr under the experienced tutelage of Ulfr was able to score 2 first half touchdowns single handedly, despite some problems with the wet and slippery ball.
The Lizards played most of the game with only 2 players, and the start of the second half was no different. Egill received the kickoff and once again, he was seen dashing away. Ulfr was heard yelling at him after he attempted a throw...'JUST SCORE IT YOURSELF', so he did. A hat-trick of Touchdowns in his first game, the Lizards didn't see it coming...or perhaps that explains the early blocks they inflicted on him?
The lizards almost managed to score on their return, if only there had been just 1 more minute...but the clock expired, and the Norse team left the field to a majority crowd cheering them off.
That keeps them on the top of the ladder, and things really seem to have turned around after 2 previous disappointing seasons.”
