The reason being that the Elves surprisingly removed so many Undead from the field in the first half that there was nothing left for them in the second.
From that moment on, I would say the crazy game kept the balance quite well, with both sides consistently bungling even the most basic tasks, such as 2 dice blocks from blockers requiring only pushbacks, and attempts to pick up the football with rerolls.
As you said dude, this was probably the strangest game I've ever been involved in- and that is saying something!
