“It was a beautiful May morning when the British Trees Utd reserves stepped up against the Gajolerne B team..
Whereas the Woodelves had come prepared for some pass and move practice against the bulkier, less agile Humans. The Humans had clearly turned out to teach the elves the humility of pain by hiring in Star Player Grif..
After a nervy start from the humans when their ogre fell over on his first turn the woodies tried to hustle to the ball only to forget how to catch..
And after a nasty foul resulting in a serious injury the human side got it together to score their first touch down.
The elves hit back quickly to make it 1-1 whilst the humans were still celebrating their lead..
Another Human mistake allowed the woodies to again pressure the ball which may have resulted in a second td but for the intervention of the refs whistle..
After the break the elves rushed into a quick lead and after some nervy moments thought that they'd nullified the threat by getting bodies round the ball only for the humans to rally and make a miraculous td, a final move in the play left the linesman to make a 1die blitz no reroll knockdown 1 die ball pick up and sprint for the line.
The woodies by this time were deflated after another serious injury and a fresh badly hurt and were hoping to play out time for a 2-2 all draw..
But after some good movement promising at least the glimmer of a chance a succession of failed 2+dodges and seemed destined to have robbed the woodies of not only the win but also the draw..
The woody ball carrier adrift of all his team mates in his own end zone stuck waiting for the inevitable blitz into the crowd and final score from the humans..
However a second moment of delicious panic from the human ogre saw the turnover allowing the ball carrier to run out of his own endzone sprint twice throw the long pass which was caught and carried to the human endzone, touch down..
With only minutes on the clock the two teams again lined up and perhaps symbolising the way the game had gone the entire afternoon the human coach ordered his team to forget about the ball and trying for an equalising touchdown and to instead go after the line of scrimmage...
One of the clearly demoralised linesman got 1die skulls rerolled skulls, allowing the rest of the elves to run away and clearly proving the point that to win at blood bowl one should focus more on the ball and less on the blood...
