“A difficult match for the Elves today. They came into the match with only 9 players and that simply was not enough against the surging St. Louis team. Even with their star thrower on the bench dealing with his old age niggling injury...the norse had a strong team and sound game plan. That plan was helped by some very uncharteristic mistakes by the elves. First turn the elves dropped a pass (even using a team RR)...and the norse pounced on the loose ball. A few elves were knocked off the field...and the elves were unable to break through the norse blockers who soon took the ball in for an early 1-0 lead. After the kickoff, again we gained the ball, but the pass right before the end of the half bounced off the hands and so we went into the second half with a score still of 1-0. With the ball in the hands of So Taguchi again and the Elves down to 7 players, it was only a matter of time until St. Louis scored again and it was 2-0. The Elves were totally dispirited at this point and the next kickoff was a blitz and the result was another score as time was almost gone. A convincing 3-0 victory for St. Louis helps position us a bit better at the halfway point in the season.
