“Welcome sports fans, to the close of the White Isles season 5.
This was the last match of the season for Coach Nosebiter's band of cartoon superheroes the Kartoon Killers and the pressure was most definatley on.
The Killers come in to the game with an unbeaten track record for the season, having fluked a couple of draws and got down and dirty with it when they needed to, to claw themselves within touching distance of promotion.
Only coach Copycat's tough looking undead the Necrotelecomnicon, current region div 5 leaders stood in the way of glory and promotion, but the threat of ignoble defeat and a third season in the regionals still loomed large over the KK's.
Knowing he'd have to pull off every dirty trick in the book and then some coach Nosebiter shelled out for a wizard, threatened his team with grisly death and prayed very hard to nuffle...
The undead win the toss and start a promising drive, but the KK's rising star kicker Custard punts the ball deep into the Necrotelecomnicon's half, and pressure in the back field, a solid defense and the threat of a fireball force the undead into a hasty break for the endzone.
A timely assisted blitz from Custard swiftly turns the ghoul ball handler over 2 squares from the KK's endzone and it's first blood to the humans as Shrek the ogre gets his first cas for the team BH'ing a mummy, though the stoic undead blocker shrugs off the after effects and regenerates in the dugout.
With the ball still in the KK's back field the undead scramble for the TD but some unlucky dodges see the humans retain possession despite a fumbled clearance throw, and a swift hand-off to blitzer Dangermouse sees the ball carried quickly upfield and passed into the waiting hands of rising star Roger Ramjet who makes a break for the endzone with Mr. Benn and Paddington Bear.
Having caught the undead on the back foot the KK's unsportingly stall for a turn before getting in the obligatory foul on a ghoul and scoring a turn 6 TD.
The boo's from the crowd seemed to be affecting the undead's play and an unlucky block from zombie Eric Thursley saw the speedy humans quicky take advantage and overwhelm the lone ghoul ball carrier in the undead's back field, though some fumble fingered fumblings from KK's thrower Mr. Benn meant that the humans were unable to capitalise on a second TD.
An eventful second half saw plenty of boot action and fouls from both teams alongside some elf like play from the KK's as a fumbled throw saw the humans put under increasing pressure by the Necrotelecomnicon in their own half. An extremely agile ghoul grabbing the loose ball that a failed human throw had left invitingly lying around left the match teetering between victory or the undead equalizer but all those prayers to nuffle must have worked...
A turn of awesomely good rolls for the humans, and some awesomely bad rolls from the undead saw the Killer's dig deep and win back possession, dodging and passing like amphetamine fueled ninjas to score in turn 5.
Violence ensued in turn 6 with the undead drive off to an excellent start and KK's thrower Samurai Jack SI'd. The Killers replied with a cas of their own as KK's blitzer Roger Ramjet notched up his 8th by killing the ghoul Princess Esmerelda to the cheers of the bloodthristy crowd.
Incensed by the baying of the mob, the undead upped their tempo and some razzle dazzle play and nimble fingered magic saw the Necrotelecomnicon score a consolation TD in turn 7.
It was however, too little too late and the Kartoon Killers were victorious, winning the WIL Great Albion Regional Division V title and promotion.
Good game Copycat, well played, you made it a tough game and it was only the unlucky key rolls that lost you this one, hope you get promoted bud, you were a worthy opponent.
