A game of two distinct halves, this time out.

In the first, the Shield clamped the ball tight to themselves, running an effective shield wall into the Mankickers' end zone, knocking out five players in the process. It would have been six, but the Orcland apothecary was on the field quickly, salvaging one player from the physical drubbing.

Orcland put up a stalwart defence, delaying the Shield as long as they could, but their numbers finally gave out in time to allow team MVP Island to score.

The second half was... well...

Orcland recieved the ball quickly from a surprising bounce close to the centre line, and with deft handling sprinted a reciever along the sidelines, secure in the knowledge that speed would be the Canadian's undoing. With the score tied, their teammates still reeling from the first brutal half would have more time to recover.

A fine theory, and a solid strategy.

The plan worked well right until the throw had to be made. Rugor, who has yet to make a single pass in his career, dropped the ball neatly into a no-man's land, well behind his receiver; behind him, and within reach of three opponents...

A confident Quebec watched his team form a light cage where he was going to be, raced back, and promptly dropped the ball. Embarassed, he tried again, but could only manage an awkward fumble, letting it plop to his feet.

Reenergized, the crowd urged the orcish runner to regain the ball; following their lead, he did - dropping it as he smacked into another dwarvish longbeard.

Quebec tried gaining posession once more, twice; but the taunts of the fans had him thoroughly rattled as clumsy fingers punched the ball away.

Again and again, these two players from either team booted the ball in circles until finally the Shield won posession with Ottawa seizing the skin and racing down field to beat the clock with a pass...

Which ended up in the stands.

Those same fans have punished Orcland's horrid luck, and they hope to win that support back soon.

But lord, to do so, they'll have to play better than this!

Thanks to coach Falstaff00 for a fun, if amazingly frustrating game!
