“This was a good competitive match that came right down to the wire. In the end, fortune favored the dirty tonight!

In the first half the Lions went right for the jugular immediately, with a deep flank rush, hoping to take advantage of a scattered Mummy deployment. From here I made what I thought was a strong attempt to defend, but a single 1 die block put paid to that, giving the dodging Gerard a single dodge for the score! And this he failed!

From here I did my level best to play ball, but soon it became clear that, without Judy (who was in the reserves box) there was no chance of that! So we instead set about blocking and fouling the Lions out of the game!

In this we were pretty succesful, taking out some key players. I even mananged to talk the Referee out of sending a player off, after I explained the fine system to him!

By the second half the Lions were down to 8 men, and things looked very bleak for them. However, I made a mistake that I have made before, that is allowing Judy to be surfed by a single Blitzer! With her gone, and time running out, OT was starting to look likely! I should add that I was lucky the football didn't follow Judy out, otherwise we'd probably have lost to around 6 men!

But up stepped Chessmaster Hex, to snatch the football and run it in with a last-second go fo it, all without rerolls! His heroics saved the day for us, that's for sure.

Finally, the Lions managed to kill Teddy Bomber, which was a late blow, but we got enough money for another ball handler, and Mummy Jet Black learned how to block!
