With the loss of Bone Krasha after our last match, the girls' spirits were not the best coming into the match. Loony Tossa had drunken herself into a stupor (Bone Head), and wouldn't step onto the pitch for the first drive. Fortunately, we were receiving, and Da Flinga has improved significantly as a backup thrower (she's not as greedy with the TDs either!)
The first half saw a dropped pickup give the Deadmen a very good shot at the ball - with the Count, a mummy, and a wight zoning the loose ball, it came down to a very lucky bounce to get it free. The count still managed to take the ball carrier down, but fortunately, Da Flinga was able to get a long bomb away to Skull Krusha. From there, things became a lot easier for the girls. The Deadmen were too committed to the where the ball had been, and we were able to stall the half out comfortably.
Half Time Score: 1-0
Coming into the second half, the count came back from KO, and with Thigh Kleava fouled to death right on the buzzer, we were down to just 9 players. Shortly after the kickoff, the Count collected the ball neatly, and began his advance up the pitch. All to confident of his abilities, he was in for a surprise when Leg Breaka saw an opportunity to strike, and the ball flew loose. Loony Tossa showed us why she's such a star, dodging her way through to the ball, and with perfect precision, throwing it to Hed Splitta.
Despite their best efforts, things were getting rather grim for the girls, as the dropped one by one. Before they'd really noticed what was happening, the KO box filled up, and we were down to just 4 players. In desperate times, you have to go for the big plays, sometimes they work, sometimes they don't ... but it's certainly worth making the attempt. Hoping for a miracle, Leg Breaka made her move, leading off from the players marking her, and Hed Splitta did not disappoint! The long pass was on target, and the ball well down the field .. but unfortunately, well in range of Deadmen players.
Running out of time, the Deadmen called on the count to get them out of trouble, and that he did ... just. It came right down to the dying seconds of the match for the Count to pick up the ball, and make a quick pass to Eddy, who strolled in for an easy touchdown.
Final Score: 1-1

3 pts - #1 Giant Baba II
Both of the Deadmen mummies were a pain, but Baba in particular got in the way with his tackle. Regularly manning up on our players, he forced the girls to take a lot more risks than they really would have liked.
2 pts - #14 Gorilla Monsoon
Though he spent most of the match doing precious little, he made the absolutely crucial blitz on Leg Breaka, preventing a 2-0 defeat for the Deadmen. That one block of his was a corker, and would have killed Leg Breaka if it weren't for the quick actions of the medical staff.
1 pt - #9 Count von Drakenborg
He probably deserves more points than this, but, he is the count, so you expect him to pull his weight. Crucial in the Deadmen defence, and also in their offence, the count seemed to be everywhere. He made a few of the crucial moves in the match, and forced major changes to our game plan throughout.”
“Not a bad game, tried to watch the replay just then but felt that the whole time I was battling Elf/zon/orcs and they had the upperhand for all of it. So couldnt bring myself to watch all of it :P
The only poor bit of ball handling for the orcs happened right at the start with a fumble on the pickup putting them under pressure. I got some heavy arsed TZ's on the ball but in hindsight maybe should have risked the pickup on a 4+ from the count. It wasnt hard for Lav to setup the push onto the ball which forced the worst possible bounce I could have got. Da Flinga got away but not far enough and the COunt crunched her. again the ball bounced in a terrible possition and Da flinga picked it up and tossed it casually long distance, as they did all game, regardless of who it was.
There seemed to be alot of dodging going on this game but the girls only fell over 2 or 3 times in total. So they did good. Which was to be expected. We had one crack at Skull krasha but the 1D blitz was a skull rerolled for another skull. from there we were systematicly removed from the field through some great fouls.
Turn 8 and with alot of built up frustration, we failed to knock anyone down with 5 blocks until the blitz put Thigh Kleava down, who was set upon by an angry zombie, and a new recruit was found!
Second half started with us recieving. OB was in my ear talking up a safe drive. JUST PLAY IT SAFE HE WAS SAYING. so i think straight after that Bam Bam Terry Gordy decided to try and dodge from 1 TZ to another, burning a reroll and leaving the ball unprotected and all the team out of possition. The Elves pounced but couldnt quite get TZ's on. The count was able to pick it up but didnt get far before the ball was stripped in a pushback and Loony made a great play to push dodge and push again pick it up and throw longgggg and oh boy big trouble. The elves retreated backwards, chased by a mummy and some zombies, Loony got struck by bonehead finally and was then knocked out in a great blitz. Still I left the top side open foolishly and the orcs managed a bold counter attack that found them with the ball and in range of another TD next turn.
As lav has already covered, it took 2 big pushes by a zombie to give an assist and then the POW from GM to lay down Leg breaka with a massive hit. Still we couldnt clear the ball with the count failing tp pick it up with a reroll on the first attempt. luckily we heavily outnumbered the zons by this stage and really, only had ourselves to beat. The Count decided to pick it up and make the Quickie to the waiting and thankfully safe hands of Eddy G for the t17 and game drawing TD.
Again, poor starts to the halves cost us dearly. One was luck based and the second half start was all our own fault with a misclick seeing the early turn over. SILLY. hopefully next game will see us be a bit more threatening.
Well coached Lav.
