“A wonderful game this one, with both sides enjoying moments of joy and despair on route to the 2-2 tie.
The League in particular played extremely well, starting the game with just 9 players and staring at a larger and more dangerous team with an unbeaten record.
In the first the Elves scored in turn 2, as expected, and the Khemri scored late, again, as expected.
What was NOT expected was the Elves scoring early in the 2nd half from their own kick! With a bad kick I chose to give Mummy Spike Speigel the ball, as he scored last game in an impressive drive. However, brilliant play by Tree Philippines saw a Blitz injure Spike's guard Faye and then trap Spike alone at the rear of his team! From here it was a simple matter for the Elves to tie all the support up, wrest the ball free and take it in for the score!
What followed was nerve-wracking for Bibappu. In 50+ Khemri games I have lost only twice, and each winning coach gets a mention in my personal profile. I had no intention of losing a 3rd time! But the Elves were defending so well...
...in the end we made the score, but by the tightest of margins. I would not like to have to play such a drive again!
Bibappu remain undefeated, but we saw a glimpse of weakness today- brought on by the supreme efforts of the League.
Good game!
