KFC won the toss, and surprise surprise, elected to receive. They got off to a flying start, with 3 KOs in the first turn, as well as securing the ball comfortably.
In a somewhat dire position already, down 3 players to start with, we were fortunate to take out Slayer Stephan on our first blitz of the match. Unfortunately for us, that's the only damage we managed to do to the dwarves ... not even a single KO for the rest of the match.
We played fairly standard delaying tactics for the first half, making good use of Hed Splitta's combination of diving tackle and side-step to slow down the dwarves advance. With a massive numerical advantage (10-7), the dwarves did manage to get in range for a touchdown, but were thwarted when Back Breaka made a truly impressive blitz, involving two dodges and two GFIs to get a hit on the ball carrier, leaving them unable to make the touchdown they were hoping for.
Half time score: 0-0
Unfortunately, most of the girls decided they'd prefer to stay in the KO box than return to the field, so we were left with just 8 players for the second half. With Stephan back, the dwarves were able to field their best 11 (minus Big Bad Bill, who didn't make the match), so, despite keeping them from getting on the scoreboard, things still looked pretty grim.
KFC had no trouble stopping our first move up the left side of the pitch, however, seeing an opportunity for a switch play, Da Flinga collected the ball, and passed it back to Loony Tossa, who made the switch play across the field, and out of range of even a blitz! Well, at least, that's what she tried to do ... unfortunately, Larry Languid made the move of the match, and intercepted the pass, leaving us in a rather perilous situation.
From there, it was all over. We were in poor positions, and didn't really have a chance to stop the dwarves from taking in an easy touchdown .. and by the end of the match, we had just one player on the pitch ... stunned.
Was a close match, due to a bit of good luck for me in the first half, and a bit of good luck for KFC in the second.
Final score: 0-1

3 pts - #12 Larry Languid
Dealt out one of the first half KOs, and then stepped it up a notch by making the crucial intercept in the second half (which he naturally followed up with a crowd-push that left Da Flinga seriously injured. Player of the match by a long shot.
2 pts - #6 Tony Twinkletoes
The 'go to man' (dwarf) when it came to ball carrying. Although we was taken down in the first half, it wasn't really his fault (the rest of the team got a little bit behind is all), and he made up for it in the second half with a comfortable touchdown.
1 pt - #7 Randy Rodgers
horrible mix of skills. He may not have done anything particularly spectacular, but he always seemed to be in the way.”
