Spirits were high going into this game after having held Purple’s Angry little fellas for a draw, and now we were to face a troll and nine of his beastmen companions.
Our moods soon darkened in the first half though as things didn’t seem to be going our way – the Ogre’s although not as dumb as in previous games were failing to put the beasts on the floor, and worse yet the beasts mocked us by making a -2d block with double pows and badly hurting the dumb ogre, much to the delight of his coach.
Our attempts to stop the ball carrier really were ineffectual, with none of the TTM we tried pulling off to get a 1d block against the carrier, and not managing to break armour with our ogres when they did put someone down.
But as the Beasts moved towards the endzone, things started to turn around… the beasts continued their 1 and -2d bocks and failing them, and putting themselves in the injury box… then when they opted to dodge away instead, they also hurt themselves!
So, our plan suddenly changed from doing something, to doing nothing!
The beasts still scored, with ease, but their numbers were reduced at least… a failing Apo not doing anything to alleviate that.
This left us with a few turns to try and salvage something… figuring the chances for a successful TTM were small we took the opportunity to skill Nipples Smalley with a pass, which he made and set us up for a next turn TTM attempt. The beasts picked on a lone Gobo again, but nothing much else as the ogres protected the LOS.
Then… the TTM, Glob scooped up Chin Sharptooth and hurled him downfield, the little guy landed right this time, and needed a single GFI to make the score… amazingly he did it to level the scores 1 – 1!
The game looked to be ours now!
7 Beasts lined up against our ten men, including four ogres. The plan was clear, mark out pairs of bests, and keep the LOS pinned whilst we stall FTW!
And that’s what we did, the opponent expending all RRs making dodge rolls and frustrated -2d blocks on Ogres.
A CAS and KO left the remaining five with little hope to stop the inevitable 2-1 victory!

This really was a game of two halves. In the first half I said to Grue that I’d be better off if the Ogres did fail their boneheads, as they did nothing but cause me turnover problems. It wasn’t until Grue started injuring himself that things looked to be turning around…
The second half was straight forward, but Grue still got a blitz on the ball carrier twice at the expense of his RRs.
