“What a curious match thought Groober (da Gobbo). He'd been sent to scribble down a report of this one for Bob (Borc) as it was supposed to be one of the highlights of the weekend. Everything was riding on this one for the Aberration, and although the Ecclesiarchs were already off to the Premiership, everyone thought they might fight tooth and nail for their first divisional title.

But...it didn't seem like they cared about it. Maybe, maybe...half the team once owned the prem playground, so it wasn't so unlikely that they were a little disinterested in a divisional title. Halfway through the second half though, it looked very likely they were going to squander a 1-0 halftime lead and practically give it away with a display of comic brilliance.

Rewinding to da first half. Handicaps saw the Aberration off to a difficult start, down their two stars, they fought tooth and nail but couldn't stop the Ecclesiarchs from finding the ball and wandering downfield for a try. But thats when it gots curious....they really did *wander* downfield and the defence fell down soon as an aberration looked their way (the curse of the 1d block!). They did eventually get there, even with the scrambling pseudo-attack launched by the aberration.

And then a new set of orders and the second half got underway. Starting with the ball, it was inconceivable that the ecclesiarchs might lose. But they certainly gave it a good shot. They spilled the ball pickup, flopped over on double skulls, or rerolled dodges, failed to knockdown the runaway aberration with the ball and gave away an easy td. Just a sniff (albeit unpleasant), they were back and the aberration lads really lifted their game. The ecclesiarchs though, had gotten on a roll, and its always hard shifting out of gear as you're turning the corner to a premiership run! Another spilled ball pickup, flops on some more double skulls and the ecclesiarchs made sure .......... that the Aberration were through to the Premiership! And Coach (Snorri) and Kazi seemed pleased!?

It took Groober a few minutes to absorb dat. Oh, not the conspiracy...the deduction. Logic always made him feel a little squeamish. It just weren't natural, but Bob likes da good stories....
