“Out of all the games we had to play this Season, this was the one that was most in doubt for having a good outcome. For one thing, our silly Ogres had enough trouble putting skill-less players on their backs, never mind blodges.

The Zons had also groomed two of their blitzers into perfect Hobo killers... and if all this wasn't bad enough the cowardly wenches even hired Zara to make them a whopping 38TS higher than us!

Putting all of this out of our minds, we put on our Game hats and took to the field.

The Zons made an early break down our right flank, with obvious intentions to score quick, and skill some rookies up whilst doing it.

Alice Cooper ended her move close to one of our Gobos, who didn't much like that at all! Calling for his buddies - it took him, a Gobo pal and an Ogre to put Alice down, Toggy ran over to make it a more permanent affair and stuck the boot in. Alice was KO'd (to return only on the final drive of the game) whilst Nipples was sorely ejected.

The Thrower - Catcher combination worked nicely and an early score for the Zons.

Our turn to drive. The Ogres concentrated on pinning a tackler by the sideline, threatening a surf, whilst most of the others ineffectually managed to push the zons around a little, whilst the Gobos scooped up the ball.

The Zons broke free of the Ogres and swarmed the ball carrier, but got no blitz on him. The Ogres followed through with their threats and surfed a tackler, who the crowd helped into the reserve box (boo). Mighty Gobo, Nipples helped clear the path for the ball carrying Gobo, but he unfortunately failed to dodge and spilt the ball nearby two Zons (ARGH!).

The Zons scooped up the ball and threw it to their catcher, who dropped it. The Minxes coach cursed the catcher "some catcher!" - although after the game the hypocrite would then commend Guns n Roses!

The Gobos swarmed in and removed the thrower from the ball and scooped it up, only to then be blitzed by a lino *POW* and then have the ball spill into the hands of the Zons catcher! ... ... "some catcher, indeed!" the zons made it 2-0… this was looking grim.

A failed TTM ended the half for the Gobos, but at least the annoying Zara, who had been smacking Ogres about, had been removed by the On-The-Ball Ref.

Both teams started the second half with just nine men; we may not have knocked many Zons down, but at least when we did, they were staying down. The half started out disastrous as the Bone headed Ogres equaled their all time record of four straight Ogres standing around having an idle chat about the best way to throw Goblins despite having a great unwillingness to do so.

Faced with no defensive wall, the Gobos sat back, out of reach from the Zon Army that would flood through.
A couple Zons dove through while the rest cautiously remained deep. This allowed us to recover and work a very nice TTM to make it 2 - 1!

The Zons lined up again against us again. A dodgy kick that was to land by the LOS and a Blitz gave us the much needed opportunity to tie up the game. Our Ogres moved the Zons away from where the ball was to land and Nipples moved into position to catch it. The ball came down but Nipples couldn't catch it and it spilt out of bounds.
Our gamble hadn't paid off. The Zons broke down the flank and our attempted blitz with greater numbers failed at the last hurdle as we botched yet another simple dodge.

The Zons scored to make it 3 - 1.

We knew, and the Zons knew as they lined the back field, that even though a quarter of the game remained that it was beyond us now.
Another well worked, despite a very deep kick into out endzone, TTM came off to end the Score 3 - 2!

Despite losing I was very happy with the game. A skilled up Gobo and Ogre, no permanent Injuries - mainly due to me keeping them out of harms reach and also Wotfud concentrating on scoring rather than maiming, and TWO TTM scores!

My dodge rolls were atrocious, and I didn’t attempt many in the first place… this was more frustrating when watching the Zons dodge from my Ogres.

Thanks to Wotfudboy for a GG and also accommodating me and my RL schedule (on holiday this weekend).
Hope to have a rematch in the future. :)
