The game started off poorly for Web...as the opening kickoff the Necromatic team got a blitz and put the pressure on early and often. Ravenloft fouled hard as well - 3 fouls with the eye on them, but managed to make it through the game only losing 1 player to being caught and killed a linerat in the process. However, Web managed to get the ball downfield to score and go up 1-0. However, failing 4 2d blocks in 3 turns prevented any resistance to Ravenloft and they moved easily down the field - waiting to scored until they were forced to on T7. The heat nailed 4 of the Web players and the Ravenloft got another blitz as well on the next kickoff...a zombie got a 1d block on our GR that was going to be pushed into scoring range and knocked him down to end any scoring chances we had. With only 1 turn left per side - little else mattered in the first half. Although, earlier in the half, a foul on a WW did break an arm and knock it out for the rest of the game.
The second half started out poorly for Web again as yet again the rat ogre failed its 2d block and the bothdown KOed the rat ogre for the rest of the game. A failed pickup by the Ravenloft gave the rats a chance, but a stupid misclick meant a line rat tried a 3+ dodge and failed...and failed on RR as well. That break gave the Ravenloft a solid chance to claim the ball. With things looking bleak - it was the gutter runners to the rescue. The AG 5 leaping gutter runners set up a 2d block on the ball carrying ghoul and managed to get the ball. Of course the GR was then crowdpushed by the WW, but the ball was thrown in away from everyone near the Web goal line. Another GR picked up the ball and tossed it to Minks who scooted forward and avoided a single 2d blitz to race in for the 2-1 lead.
Now things were all going for Web - or so it seemed. The ensuing kickoff was a blitz for Web now - and the ball was in range to be grabbed by some GRs. However, 2d block failed and had to be RRed to use up last RR and then leap by AG 5 gutter runner failed and our best player was KOed for the rest of the game. Both sides out of RRs, Ravenloft moved quickly, picking up the ball and making a short pass to their WW who blitzed forward and tried to break into the clear. However, Deathbringer - the AG 5 linerat - dodged away and on 2d block on WW gave him a concussion - the ball was loose and Ravenloft had no chance to score. Ravenloft attempted to vent their frustration by some crowdsurfing, but sadly it was only more stuns and a bothdown on the ballcarrier did little as we still scored on T16 to win a close game.”
