“Following the end of Season One, and after an early, disappointing, friendly, we took a week to get down to training to prepare for a tough first game against Mummywell FC.
With both teams employing similar tactics it was being touted as a Score Draw by the fans, what was an uncertainty however was just how many players would fail to regenerate.
Real won the toss and decided to kick off. Skellies on the line, four mummies slightly back, a vulnerable Thrower on the side… the target was set. We broke to the flank, tying their mummies up with Zombie corpses whilst ours concentrated on forming a rolling shield to pound the AV7s and clear a path for the Ghouls.
The plan worked great, much to the dismay of their coach, the Khemri players falling into the Reserve, KO, and CAS box. Eventually their mummies caught up with us but by this time, even our weaker players with assistance of others were managing to put them down to the ground. We made an impressive 8th turn score and committed two valuable players into the CAS box, a throw-ra and a mummy.
A great start but the tricky thing now was to stop three mummies from caging their way to the end zone. Unfortunately, our KO’d zombies didn’t return and left us with just 9 men to stop the charge and forcing us to place a Ghoul on the LOS, the only grace was that it started to rain.
After the initial LOS clearance, and two more players sent to the KO box, and a poor Ghoul stunned from a boot, it didn’t look hopeful. They were soon joined by both our mummies… obviously Mummywell FC had sneakily traded their amour with ours during half time.
We had a single shot at this… let the Khemri stall, keep putting our regeners in their way, wait till the last second and dodge a Ghoul in to take the ball carrier down and hope the rain would save the day.
We did just that, the Khemri were frenzied and left a single dodging move to get an equal blitz on the ball carrier. The Ghoul dodged in, and decked the Throw-Ra, then, with his sure-hands, he scooped up the ball whilst another Ghoul moved in to provide cover! Hopefully, with a stunned throw-ra and only two turns left, in the rain we’d done enough.
Apparently not, next turn came a blitzing Mummy against our blodging ghoul, he took him down, the ball scattered to a Blitz-ra who beat the scatter and rain and caught the ball on his first go… the Khemri equalised to our dismay.
We set up for the final seconds, a shambles of a team with still no Mummies. The Khemri placed two mummies on the LOS and the other behind the skellybob, confident we didn’t have the power to put them down. A blitz from their Multi-blocker left a gap, we took a mummy down and made him pay for that - SPLAT! We killed the bugger but he regenerated! /boo

GG Grit. After the first half I thought I had it, but with the three KO’s not coming back I knew it looked bleak. I needed those bodies to tie up your guys. Finally thought everything had gone perfectly when I made that -1 dodge and took your ball carrier down, but that 6 for the catch dashed all my hopes.
