“It seems all our reports start out with an ominous outlook lately, I’m sure you can understand when you’re a two foot tall gobo hiding in between the legs of an Ogre from tackling Zons, even at the risk of that Ogre sitting down on you at any moment! But this time it was different… this time we were looking forward to our game against ten High Elves with only one talented player amongst them… squishing time!
That talented Elf managed to sneak a Knuckleduster onto the field and instantly donned an unseen bullseye on his back!
The game kicked off and the Elves actually brought the bashing game to us, taking on two of our Ogres and threatening deep. The Ogres conducted themselves with a new precedent of intelligence as they formed a cage around the Elves, whilst the Gobos took on the two deep players - a boot to the head quickly reduced them to one, whilst our toughest Gobo held the other up.
All was going well… the elves now abandoned the bashing and fell back on what they do best, a few dodges and a completed pass had two of them standing down field… not a problem, they were in blitzing distance of Ogres on a good day… Of course, it was then that the Ogres decided that that was enough concentration for the day. A stubborn Ogre refused to blitz, we persuaded him with a RR, and he trudged over, only to knock both him and the all carrier down. The Elf’s partner scooped it up and carried it within scoring distance.
The Ogre got up to give chase, and the free Gobos also moved in. The tied up Gobos began to formulate a gang plan to blitz that was quickly scuppered by a failed dodge; chuckling, the elves scored.
This left us with 10 men v 9 as one of our boys had been sent off earlier… we caged our way to the finish line, only for a last turn dodging blitz of bravery by a Lion Warrior that took both the ball carrier and himself down leaving us to make a tricky Pickup last turn equaliser, fortunately we made it.
The Elven numbers had fallen some more and the plan was to capitalise and try for an optimistic two more TDs to help train up some of our players. However, when the Ogres reduced the field to just four elves that couldn’t reach our goblins, they ordered a Stall so they could pound their pale hides some more… who are we to argue?
We darted about at the edge of the end zone whilst the pesky elves tried to get to us… but the Ogre wall kept hitting them down.
The game ended 2 – 1
Now we face the evil Dark Elves and their blodging madness… we’re not looking forward to that one.
A very enjoyable game, Ogreat are fast becoming my Fav. Team to play with. Fluffy played well, managing to control his first drive, hit my Ogres and protect his own as well as skill up his guys and score in the process. As the attrition set in though and he was forced to make tough decisions and blow the RRs, the game seemed stacked highly in my favour.
We managed to get 30K in cash! ARGGGGH! Still 10K off that RR, we’ve been saving for 3 frikin games!!! ”
