After a disappointing first game Real Sociedead were very pleased to have an opportunity for revenge against the team that knocked them out of the OBBA Cup Semi finals, West Hexoatl, early in the season.

Thanks to the savagery of Sirius 1907ers they were coming into the game under strengthed against a Real Side that just added to its seasonal signings with new Zombie, Andrija Delibasic. What’s more is that rumour leaked out that one of their Saurus was suffering from a niggling injury – if ever an opportunity for penance was to present itself, then this had to be it.

Strategy was clear… our speed didn’t allow us to stop a Skink drive, we had bitterly leant this from the last encounter, so when the coin toss was won, the game plan was stall, stall and stall some more.

The Saurus with the aid of the their huge Krox lined up on the LOS against the mummies and zombies, Juanito and his deadly boot snuggled in behind them waiting to punt lizard brains over the pitch. The kick off came and a quick snap was had. The Clever Hexoatl kicked the ball right to Juanito, who had other plans in mind and stepped away from the falling ball.

The mummies began things with Mikel pummelling a Saurus to the ground. Asier Riesgo then squared up against the Krox and crushed his skull… another Killer Award would have come his way were it not for the skill of the Apothecary. As Real scooped up the ball and knocked a couple more players out of our way, Juanito ran up to the Krox and stamped on his already damaged skull… CRACK… the Kroxigor was taken to the SI box with a niggling injury!

The crowd cheered! The Hexoatl’s coach’s heart sank. The game felt like it was already won.

The Lizards could do little in reply. One Saurus was left beating on the new signing, the others stood up only to be knocked down again, and as the skinks tried to get away from the tacklers they fell.

It was only the agile Rio who threatened to bring down Díaz de Cerio in an equal strengthed blitz during Real’s drive, but the blodger merely side stepped away. Indeed, the courage of Rio left him vulnerable to Juanito several times, but with Lizards leaving the field quickly enough on their own, the coach was mindful of leaving them in a state to challenge the current premiership leaders, Bristol Reavers.

Díaz de Cerio handed the ball off to Karla Larburu who made a late TD. Only six Lizards took to the field for the closing minutes of the first half.

The second half and a few more lizards had managed to revive making it a 9 v 11 game. A great kick left Hexoatl with a difficult pass to make, but this was made to look easy by Rio… the inevitable score came and reminded Real that another late TD was the required response against such awesome scoring ability… and Real did just that, a reduced Lizard team to four covered Saurus and a late handoff from Diaz to Francisco saw a comfortable finish to the game, 2 – 1.

Back to winning ways, and now second in the Premiership. Karla added to his arsenal of blocking skills and developed a Might Blow to combat the pesky Dwarves in the next game.

Was always gonna be a tough game for flibble coming in with just a 12 man roster, and me adding another tackle to the team.

The Krox niggle was an early blow and his skinks just seemed to drop like flies from failed dodges. Wasn’t a good dice game for him at all. After the first half I wanted to try and take a better lead to finish the game, but the two turn TD from him was a warning to play it safe and get the three points rather than try to skill more players.

GG flib… if you can keep your players alive you have a good shot this season.
