A brutal game where the necromatic team played a better game than the human Corsairs. While, the blocking was a strength for the Corsairs early, it had little effect as the CAS were regenerated. Hurin was not his normal self, failing to make a catch (burned a RR), failing some pickups as well. The Slayers drove down the field first for a score. Then bad ball handling burned all the Corsair's re-rolls and they turned the ball over...it was then without any re-rolls that Shield, a new recruit, picked up the ball and made a nice toss to Fang who made 2 gfi to scoot downfield and tie the game 1-1 at halftime.
Opening the second half, Hurin made a pass to Shield - who scored quickly. However, then the Corsairs started playing terrible. Attempting to counter a sweep, a blitz needed 1 gfi to nail the werewolf...instead double skulls and blitzer is KO. Blocking by the Slayers knock out both guards and reduce the Corsair numbers...needing to either make a 1d block from a blitzer or dodge, the Corsairs block to start next turn: skull. The following turn, same thing: skull. Then next turn, failed dauntless: skull. A comedy of errors and the Slayers easily score.
With 2 turns left, the weather turns bad - the pouring rain crashes down. However, Captain Thingol led the way - dodging away from a mark, he moved into the endzone on T16 and Hurin had to make a long pass to him...in the rain...but success - and the Corsairs pull out an unlikely victory. The final Slayers T16 caused another SI...so the Corsairs will be shorthanded for the battle for the ring - however, for now they are glad to get a victory.
Thanks for the game.”
