In an exciting season's curtain raiser, it was the famous Warfield Warriors who demonstrated evidence of more time spent on the training ground during the summer break

The Warriors, led by Coach Mead and their inspirational captain, Frank Warfield, took control from the kick off, and never eased up on the pressure through the course of the match.

They made many hits, and the Crusaders spent most of their time picking themselves up off the ground. After persistent pressure, and despite a turnover, the Warriors won the ball back, and took the lead with a Frank Warfield touchdown. And that's how it remained until the end of the half.

The Warriors started the second half in the best way possible, with more pressure, and more big hits. Their efforts were rewarded with another Warfield touchdown, to make it 2 - 0. Creekmoor had no answer, and their backs seemed against the proverbial brick structure for most of the match.

Their only consolation was a couple of massive hits, which caused serious, and in one case, long-term injuries to a couple of the Warriors. However, Coach Mead was the man smiling at the final whistle. Those questioning his future after a 3 - 1 mauling at the hands of the Crusaders in their last match were silenced on this late summer evening.

When asked if he was pleased with the result, Coach Mead replied "Aaaahh, yesss".
