Facing a scary looking lineup the Gauls were quite nervous going in and the handicap didn't help (palmed coin). Three Gauls were taken down in a pitch invasion and we had to change plans and run Polysyllabix down the sideline after a handoff near the LOS. Some deft dodging allowed us to put up a screen but the rotters managed a good blitz to bring him down anyways. We managed to clear away one of the markers and Polysyllabix accomplished the stand up & pickup the ball in one TZ to get to the line for an early score.
The Rotters set up a solid cage and advance downfield with Blackbart carrying the ball in its centre. In probably the Gauls best play of their career , Drinklikafix managed a 1 dice POW after some good leadup work by the other warriors. No mean feat on a ST5 guy in a cage and us with only 1 guarder. We were fortunate to collect the ball, hand it off to Hysterix who ran in the TD after dawdling a couple of turns to wind down the clock.
On turn 8 we had some crappy reload problems and the game never really got back into gear. The Gauls managed another blitz on a well protected Scarface carrying the ball. The ball promptly disappeared and we had to reload again and manufacture a finish over the next few turns in order to complete the game.
Twhanlows
3 Points. Crippler. Did nearly all the blitzing and invariably got the POWs, including the one on Polysyllabix to give us some anxious moments before we could score. A constant threat and we were grateful to get away from him without serious injury.
2 Points. Blackbart. A tough bird and a serious inconvenice with his strength and gaurd. I was oh so happy to get the ball from him caged as he was, but this was the only blemish on an otherwise fine match.
1 Point. Dragula. I love beasts and give him the points for effective tentacle use.
I can't recall missing one FA roll (not that I blocked the rotters much).
Thanks for persevering with the reloads Dark Lord. I appreciated your patience and cooperation to finish the match. I was NOT looking forward to the unlikely prospect of repeating the Gauls match heroics, so I'm glad I didn't have to :D ”
