Playing at home in front of a roaring crowd, the Fairies faced their nemesis - dwarves for the 4th time this season. Although every previous game had been a loss - the fans would turn out to be the MVP in this one!
As the game started, a fan threw a particularly sharp rock...killing a dwarf...the apothecary rushed onto the field, but the tone of the game was set. The dwarves received first and managed a solid drive to score the first TD of the game; however, plenty of time remained and the fans again came to help: getting the ref! On the opening play, 1 dwarf was badly hurt by a treeman, another dwarf was fouled hard for another badly hurt...as the fairies drove for the score - a dwarf was shoved into the crowd...also badly hurt. With a 1d block (needed RR) to push away a dwarf, the fairies scored right before half to tie the score at 1-1.
The second half saw the fairies outnumber the dwarve 11 to 8...and a fairly quick score made it 2-1 with the dwarves having a chance to tie...the CAS were mounting as well...a total of 7 CAS would be inflicted on the fairies - and most of them serious in nature. The dwarf runner had the ball - and our 2d blitz on the ball carrier came up empty yet again...so it came down to...Lightning Bolt! ZAP and the ball was loose...soon the fairies had the ball - but BAM - it was loose again...a flury of activity, but then Ryan Moats (our ST 2 fairy) broke free, grabbed the ball and broke for the open field. A last ditch effort by the dwarves fell short and Ryan raced down the empty field - out of the reach of the dwarves and flung the ball into the crowd as time expired and the crowd poured onto the field for a massive celebration!
Moving on...but with only 11 players for next game and only 7 of which are not nursing injury! However, the fairies continue to exceed expectations and strive to continue their improbable playoff run!
Thanks to Atlanta for a great, hard fought game! Cya next season!”
